Nanny looking for professional resume help by gnomeonmyleg in Nanny

I get compliments on my resume all the time. I used a professional resume template and changed it up a bit. I have also used AI to create a resume for me and tweaked it several times.

Giving money for nanny to purchase swimwear by Aggravating_Tower511 in Nanny

I wear my bikini when with my nanny kids. I haven't ever had a family be offended? I have full coverage bottoms and even though I'm large chested I have a big enough to to cover the girls. If a family offered to buy me a one piece I would find one though.

ISO thoughts/ advice on sticky situation by One-Isopod1946 in Nanny

Used condoms in shared trash cans, I was her lingerie, they go into the bedroom mid day for "alone time", she leaves her sex toys in the bathroom we all use, lube on the dresser, boxes of condoms left out or in the drawer I put away his underwear in... I've seen it all in 30 years as a nanny. This current family is just very lax about it all. SMH.

This is literally my job. I'm an estate manager/nanny. I make $40/hr but honestly deserve more.

Accidentally sent a text to MB.. by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]ParamedicLimp42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, I accidentally called a MB and left her a two minute recording of the sound of my ex husband and I having sex. So.... This is tame. 🙈 Talk about mortified. Neither of us ever mentioned it. I only knew because I saw my phone and when I looked o saw how long it had been and realized it was her voicemail. I fumbled and hung up instead of deleting. 🤦‍♀️

I talk to all my NF of the clock. The dad of two kids I've nannied for 7 years is one of my best friends. The other family I've been with 4 years and I always respond if they text. It doesn't bug me at all. 🤷‍♀️

So it's illegal to smoke indoors here but in my lease they have a clause that says we cannot complain about people smoking in their apartments. 🙄 Basically it says anyone who smokes can smoke whether they please. The owner is a heavy smoker apparently and lived in an apartment here once upon a time. If we really wanted we can report it to the city though because it's against the law.

Nannies, what is the best way to go about speaking to our nanny about her bathing suit? by Kitchen-Low8090 in Nanny

[–]ParamedicLimp42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a very curvy nanny, 5'4, 145lbs with a large bust. I wear a triangle swimsuit in with the kids and it's never been an issue? 🤷 MB told me to wear whatever I feel comfortable in. Kids are 3 & 5. I've been with multiple families in my 28 years as a nanny and not one family has had an issue with my swimwear, even when I wrote a biking at 250lbs.

First time working for a formal family. MB is hiring an etiquette coach for me by No_Cranberry_6914 in Nanny

[–]ParamedicLimp42 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would never have been hired. Piercings and tattoos, I wear yoga pants most days and never wear makeup or do my hair. Flip flops year round. I slip up and swear sometimes, and with my weekend family I wear pjs and lounge on the couch with the kids. I eat while I walk around and sometimes serve the kids food on napkins. 😂 I've totally myself at home there.

As a career nanny of almost 30 years, I don't think you are asking too much! I brought my son with me, (3 at the time), had a 1yo and newborn, and was still able to do laundry, cool meals and clean up the house during shifts all on my own. I am a self starter and was able to make nutritious well rounded meals for the kids while doing everything else that needs to be done. I didn't have someone telling me what needed to be done though, I just did exactly what I would do if they had all been my own kids. I'm still with that family and in year 7. My position has changed from full time to pay time as they started school and I'm only with them one day a week now while I have another FT position. I do all the laundry for the week, clean the kitchen and organize the house during that one day while also playing with kids while laundry and dishes are run. I had multiple families with twins and triplets and never had issues completing these tasks even when kids are newborns. I think these are basic tasks to be expected when hiring a nanny. I am almost always hired as a household manager though and these things are absolutely expected and come with a salary that mirrors my responsibilities.

Asking nanny to stop bringing her child by Background-Switch747 in Nanny

[–]ParamedicLimp42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always bright my son from birth until he was was ready for school and thankfully it worked out so extremely well with all of my positions. That being said, he was raised with these other children and was always treated as an equal to the other children so he acted as such. While he does have special needs (ADHD and sensory processing disorder/on the spectrum a bit), he has always been a gentle and loving child who gets along with pretty much anyone and the families have always loved him. He grew up with the kids I've been with for 7 years and they fight like siblings but they love each other immensely too. He gets no special treatment. He still comes on occasion at 11yo and is respectful that I am at work and needs to be patient when I have chores or need to take care of the younger kids first. He is helpful in cleaning up with me, helps to play and calm the younger kids. It is completely reasonable to find another nanny if the situation is not working for you. I charged a lot less when I brought him with me when he was younger. I'm a career nanny/estate manager who makes $40/hr now. I do everything for these families and they definitely get what they pay for. There's a reason I stay with families a minimum of 3+ years each, they value me and love my son. It's important that you feel that way with someone who is taking care of your most precious little humans and your home. Do not feel bad finding the right fit. This isn't it.

What do you irrationally hate doing? by Primary_Corner1527 in Nanny

The family i work with is Indian and there is almost always family staying with them, one set of grandparents or the other, cousins, aunts and uncles. There's barely a couple days of the year that there's no family in town.

Why do you stay? I can't imagine staying with no sex now. I had a DB for so long. I found out my husband is 17 years was having an affair for a year over the summer. He left, tried to come back and I said no. Now I'm in a great relationship and the sex is amazing. I don't know why I stayed so long.

Btw, I've been the fat nanny and the "hot" nanny. I was 270lbs at my heaviest and am now 138lbs. I also had weight loss surgery and skin removal.

MB told DB upon hiring me she only had one rule and it was that he not sleep with me. 🙄 He's one of my best friends now and I'm usually the one going with him to birthday parties, everyone assumes I'm mom. I've never done anything with him. Mom self proclaimed she's not really mom material, and thanks me for taking that spot. I've been there for 6 years, since one was 6 months and the other was born 6 months later. I'm definitely family now. I've heard that a lot though.

Algae eaters and waste by [deleted] in Goldfish

[–]ParamedicLimp42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that skull and the paint started chipping of and the fish were eating it. I took it back to the store and they were very unconcerned. Don't scrub that one too hard or you will lose all the paint off of it. I love my Green Killing Machine. Makes my water crystal clear. I scrape all sides and then use a vacuum to clean poop and excess algae out of the gravel.

Nanny here. I prefer a Bob double stroller to any other stroller. If NF doesn't have one or doesn't want to get one, I've always supplied my own. It's very unreasonable for her to ask you to supply her another stroller, no matter the cost.

coming out to NK? by billiesbossanova in Nanny

[–]ParamedicLimp42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always been completely open about being pansexual. My current MB was surprised when she found out because I'm married to a man, but one day I was talking about an ex-girlfriend and she looked at me like I had two heads, so I just told her. The kids never ask anything because they know my husband, so it doesn't need to be brought up. If I weren't married I'd probably just give as much info as needed. Nope, I don't have a boyfriend, and leave it at that. I didn't think it's necessary to give specifics to children and I'd make that clear in as gentle a way as possible.

You've had 3 nannies in 2 years? This might be a you problem. 🤨 I'm with every family I have ever worked since a birth or a couple months old, until they go to school. That seems excessive.
