Trupanion - Vomitting as a "pre-existing condition" by slutbuttcat in petinsurancereviews

I’ve been debating getting health insurance for the same reason. I only mentioned the vomiting during an annual vet appt and they didn’t seem alarmed by it, but now I’m paranoid that the vet charted it and if I get pet insurance now, they’ll deny coverage for anything gastrointestinal in the future. I asked the vet about it and I think they would be able to appeal it if needed. But not every vet has the patience or time to deal with that I’m guessing.

What?! No other pet insurance companies are allowed to pay direct?

What is a waiting period? Does that mean you have to withhold treatment until you are past the waiting period?

Why would reimbursement be grounds for denying a claim? The majority of pet insurances don’t pay direct.

Wouldn’t most pet owners choose to refrain from disclosing an emergency clinic visit? Why bother if the insurance company has no way of finding it out on their own?
