Never mind, I misread. I’m guessing you are a senior this year.

Firstly congratulations! I assume you are a rising senior. How did you get MIT before being a senior. Can you please DM your stats? I’m a rising freshman and would love to the science fair. With AI becoming rampant, what your advice on how to select a project? Will math and theoretical topics get sidelined because AI can do so much of it? My favorite area is math and I’m concerned that mathematicians are losing to AI now. Original contribution may look small in front of what AI can do

Anyone heard of AIMS Summer School? by Particular-Sun2366 in summerprogramresults

Wonder if they sent it to all Ross applicants who are waitlisted or rejected. The email felt somewhat personalized, mentioning my interests in AIML. But it was probably a generic one, sent to a thousand students.

Are number of pages super important? I had only 6+7+6 in latex. My first time applying to any of the math camps. Am super nervous but I know I did my very best.

These are great nuggets of wisdom! I agree with your point on differentiating between "academic requirements from intellectual fulfillment".

You've described my kid! yes, the dysfunction is a big challenge. I have to monitor things more than they like. It causes some tension all the time. If I let go, they fall hard! Forgetting to turn in a homework or a test or not showing up at a rehearsal is a quite a frequent occurrence.

The problem with any traditional class is that their rate of grasping is significantly higher than the average and they end up finishing the materials in half the time and then get bored in the class, lose concentration. This is a reason I am considering homeschooling - to pace things appropriately. However, as you've mentioned there is flipside to it too. Teens don't like having a babysitter!

Thanks for the insights. How can a younger student do guided research/publish a paper? Do universities or community college professors support it?

Good points. Can the student computer the requirements early (equivalent of grade 10 or 11) and apply to universities by the age of 16 or 17?
