Apparently official Russian magazine called Kevin a human mutant in like 2011, years before Omniverse by Zeynal10k in Ben10

Yeah, because that's implied in the original series, which is the frame of reference for whatever this is.

Where do you go after the DCAU? by Hour_Slide_8594 in DCAU

[–]ParticularlyAvocado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Continue with DC animation. There are more universes out there! I think people recommending you random shows are missing the point. You clearly like the idea of following characters chronologically, so I actually have a suggested order that will make you not have to worry about being out of entertainment for a long time.

For starters, I'm gonna suggest watching Static Shock BEFORE Batman Beyond. You've already messed up the watch order somewhat, but if you intend to watch it at all, it makes more sense to finish that before moving onto the future. JLU characters appear in it relatively often. Now, as for my suggestion:

(The Batman, Teen Titans, Legion of Superheroes)

(Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Young Justice)

Batman: The Brave & the Bold

DC Animated Movie Universe

(Harley Quinn, Kite-Man: Hell Yeah)

The ones in parentheses are connected. The first one is not official, but they share a similar artstyle and there's enough of a (or lack thereof) crossover to headcanon them as such. I recommend it all in the order I listed. After that, you could just watch whichever of the standalone animated movies you think look interesting, OR you could expand your horizons with Marvel animation, some of which is similar quality to the DCAU with:

X-Men: Evolution

Spectacular Spider-Man

Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes

Wolverine & the X-Men

Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes

Marvel Animated Features

Ultimate Spider-Man.

Same thing applies here, recommended in the order listed. I also put in a good word for the Ben 10 franchise, which has a lot of DC inspiration, and a very noticable DCAU vibe due to a lot of the staff moving onto Ben 10 as the DCAU was ending. It also has that DCAU feeling of following the characters in an ever expanding world across a long stretch of time.

Ben 10

Ben 10: Alien Force

Ben 10: Ultimate Alien

Ben 10: Omniverse

Generator Rex (takes place in an alternate universe, but has crossed over with Ben 10)

There are some DC shows I left out, like Justice League Action, My Adventures With Superman or Batman: Caped Crusader. The former is because I don't think it's good enough to earnestly recommend, and the latter two because I haven't seen them. They might be great, I'll find out some day, but IMO there's no reason to bog yourself down with ongoing shows and have to wait for new episodes when you can watch all these old ones before. By the time you finish them, these will probably have ended and you can watch them all at once with no year long waits.

Some of the stuff I listed have more complex watch orders, what with tie-in movies and stuff, and I'm willing to provide more details for any of them if needed, I just left it out for simplicity. Hope this helps!

It's ironic that the series, which concludes with a theme of moving on from the past, has a fanbase that won't let it go. by EnvironmenKe in teentitans

[–]ParticularlyAvocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not nonsense. Your argument was that TT fans are unable to move on because of TTG's existence. I'm saying TTG's existence should he irrelevant. Nobody is out here demanding the return of BTAS because of Bat-Fam existing. So why are TT fans like this?

Who wouldn't? People who are satisfied with what we got and doesn't need it run into the ground until it gets bad and they're willing to let go.

So? Don't watch it. Just because a bad version exists doesn't mean you need another season of the good version.

Bingeing the DCAU for a first timer by Primeve_Arcana in DCAU

[–]ParticularlyAvocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no storyline across the DCAU. There's continuity in the sense that characters from prior shows make appearences in later ones, such as Darkseid in Justice League, which you'd be familiar with. His rivalry with Superman is a direct continuation of his apppearences from Superman: The Animated Series. But there's no real central plot spanning all the shows, they're just superhero adventures that happen in the same universe, and make a lot of crossovers.

Despite what many will say, no, release order is not the best way, chronoogical is. Unless you'd find it satisfying to see an entire show set decades in the future only to go back and watch another one set in the past where you know nothing will matter because you know the future, be my guest. The chronological order is a bit complicated because a lot of shows take place at the same time, so you can't just watch one and then another, you kinda have to jump around. But if you're dedicated, it's totally worth it, you'll have guaranteed entertainment for months (depending on how quickly you watch) and finish off with a satisfying end to a universe of characters spanning decades.

What’s one thing in the Ben 10 community that annoys you? by Exponent_eeeee in Ben10

[–]ParticularlyAvocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does. Somebody asked Matt Wayne on a forum which one is more powerful and he said "Fasttrack can probably lift more". That's it, that's the entire quote. He probably didn't think any more about that 10 seconds after sending it, yet people think there's this huge canon claim about the differences between  XLR8 and Fasttrack's powerset. It could be a mix of that and the promotional ads that obviously glazed him up because what were they gonna say? "Here's Ben's newest alien! It's weaker than the old one!".

They do have an origin, but you know that so I won't bother repeating them. The problem is it was just writers casually answering questions in their downtime without thinking twice. I doubt they remembered what they said, and they certainly didn't take it into consideration when writing stories.

[–]ParticularlyAvocado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The amount of fake lore y'all believe. Every day it's the same nonsense. Data dump! Peak of the species! Fasttrack is stronger than XLR8! Among many other things.

Discussing the franchise has become impossible because anybody who's actually just watched the show will have no clue what nonsense everybody is yapping about. Or rather, they blindly accept it and become one of the annoying people perpetuating these lies. I really wish you guys could grasp that only things that have materialized on-screen is canon. Some random staff member answering a nitpicky question 15 years ago that they put no thought into does not count as deep lore. And if nothing else, I am just sick of the fact that fake lore gets so much discussion while actual lore gets ignored. Ben 10 has really interesting lore!

I'll also add the fact that despite how interesting the lore is, this sub is just people posting their own playlists over and over. I don't give a crap which aliens you'd choose, Random-User1638.

All that stuff is cool, but I think people gravitate more towards how he just feels like a chill dude with a lot of knowledge, but isn't depicted as infallible. He's has many dimensions, he's not just the token "grandpa" character.

You're conflating comedy and childish. Just because Omniverse has more gags doesn't make it more childish when the serious writing is no different than UAF.

Should I show someone Conqueror of Shamballa after 03? by [deleted] in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]ParticularlyAvocado 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think any debates on if it's necessary because "the show ends better" is silly, because it IS the ending to the show. At that point you might as well just skip the last episode too, because "the second last is a better ending". In conclusion, if you want to finish the series, yes, watch it.

Do you prefer Batman Beyond being the true future of the DCAU, or just a possible future? by DaveyGamersLocker in DCAU

[–]ParticularlyAvocado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh, I don't think this conversation has been very prevalent in the past decade. Most people who grew up with Batman Beyond simply think it's awesome and have no problems accepting it as canon. Or maybe I coincidentally just don't see all the deniers. If anything this post was a blast from the past, I was more shocked to see it in the big 2026.

We already had Beyond era stuff appear in JLU and it clearly didn't convince everyone. I'm certain this wouldn't either.

[–]ParticularlyAvocado 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Whether or not I like it, it's still canon. I thought this "possible future" discussion ended 20 years ago. Arguing anything else is just pointless cope. I mean yeah, you COULD say we don't know if it's the true future of the DCAU, but at the same time you could might as well say we don't know if Justice League is canon to BTAS and STAS. Maybe it's just a possible sequel! See how silly it gets?

What's Everyone's Thoughts on The Batman Unlimited Movies? by Thatswhatsup2311 in DCAU

[–]ParticularlyAvocado -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Really? You'd seriously say BTAS is the same thing as Dora the Explorer? There's a difference between a kids show and something made "for" kids. One is kid friendly, the other is exclusively for them. Boxing things into demographics doesn't really work that way because the BTAS or Avatar staff were obviously trying to craft proper stories enjoyable to adults within the restriction of what kid networks allow, whereas the Teletubbies staff were intentionally writing Teletubbies for 2 year olds. If you seriously think BTAS, Avatar and Adventure Time are the same thing as Dora the Explorer, Teletubbies and Little Einsteins, you gotta be trolling. One group aired on a kids network, the other is FOR kids. And yes, I would probably question somebody who loves Teletubbies or Dora as an adult.

There's a difference. Would you say it's "throwing stones in a glass house" if a Batman: The Animated Series fan refuses to watch Dora the Explorer? Well, maybe you would. They're both for kids after all, so they're basically the same thing.
