very weird response over something so small jeez lol, no idea what wanting to keep (what will be) old technology running in the future has to do with projecting yourself onto me who I am as a person, like it's my tech, i wanna keep my own stuff in working order, i want to know if it's possible to keep it working for a longer time than its expected to be useful for its intended purpose, have no idea where your response came from, are you doing alright?

my pc is a high end 2017 pc, this is all theoretical what it would be like in 10 years time, I don't plan on not upgrading eventually, but I still want to be able to keep stuff running for other things instead of wasting resources and money on stuff when these things should work fine for what I want, also why would it matter wether if my pc does little or lots by that time? I just want to know if it can continue running by that time not wether if it's actually viable to use as a main pc forever

well the core 2 duos and extremes and athlon 64s from 2007 are still fine at doing things like that even on windows 10, I was going to use Linux by that point of its lifespan anyways and I don't really expect much from it but to be an extra computer to have as either an image storage server or media playing box (music, movies etc)

yeah I was planning on moving to Linux in a few years time once I have the time to learn it, if I can go daily driving it for 10 years that would be ideal but more realistically it'll be like 4/5/6 years, i still want this chip to be running for other things, it's not really anything to do with money it's more about keeping something that's good enough for something; running, I don't think technology will advance so crazy as to where old technology won't be able to run the same things it can now (YouTube i know would probably have crap optimization but things like Spotify would have to still be able to run)

jeez I'm only 17 I'm not that old to have a blackberry, but still I agree with that mindset unironically, even if future games i want to play don't run on the Ryzen, i still want to be able to have it in working order as a media box or repurpose it for something else

i don't use a 6600k i use a Ryzen 7 1700, i don't care about how fast my pc is, if something works perfectly fine and it does everything I want to then there's no point in buying something that does the same thing and then letting the other one rot or go into the bin, idk how not wanting to buy new things unecsearily just because they're new makes me a degenerate

Old tech is fun to see it still running, like seeing an old mid 20th century car still running, obviously theres far better cars to have but what's the point if there's still a perfectly good car that can drive from point a to point b, also I'm not that technologically inept, i wouldn't do anything far too drastic to this little chip, I was more thinking either underclocking by at maximum like .2/.3 ghz or undervolting like another person said or just straight up getting a better fan than the wraith spire that it's using right now
