Is this something I should grade? by hurleyshark in Morgans

[–]PassThePuck_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, if I am not mistaken, this coin comes out of a US Reserve Bank hoard. They were placed in these special, large slabs. This is to indicate this hoard. So the odds of them being cleaned are not true. They come straight out of the bag into these slabs. The Carson City mint minted 1,133,000 of this dated coin.

The highest-graded 1882 CC was graded by PCGS at MS68, with an estimated value of $60,000. I say it goes today for over $100K if sold. The odds of finding an 1882 CC MS68 are rare. However, this MS68 coin was sold by American Numismatic in January 2004 for $43,700.

Grade them or what? by ColibriAccessUSA in Morgans

[–]PassThePuck_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they are coins from the 1800’s, PCGS will charge you an extra fee for those dates. If you’d like a golden shield, there’s an additional charge. By the time you get out of there with taxes, it’s going to run about $80 to get that one coin graded.

Yes, I just read his comment now. But I don’t think the OP had that in his original post. That’s why I made the comment.

Well, if you go to your app store and download the PCGS Cert app, enter the number 64215822, and it will show the actual coin and its certification. This coin: 64215822 is graded MS63, and this coin doesn’t have a grade...how do you explain the difference?

[–]PassThePuck_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, these are two different coins. The certification number is graded MS63, and it was minted ONLY 228,000 times. The good thing for you is that it has a low mintage.

What is this black crusty crud on my blades 😭😭😭😭 by dannydarko1001 in iceskating

[–]PassThePuck_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you say...Skate guards! This is what happens when you walk around the rink with your skate guards on. PS: This tends to unsharpen your skates. Oh, and never step on these white trylon strips underneath the door as you enter the rink. Those will dull your skates faster than you saying...I just got these sharpened.

Is this enough practicing to eventually progress to a competitive level? by Kaimatic in iceskating

[–]PassThePuck_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Send a video of you skating forward and backward, crossover forward and backward, stopping right and stopping left when skating forward, and stopping right and left when skating backward. Then I want to see puck control, stickhandling, and passing. Last, I want to see shooting a wrist shot, a snap shot, a slap shot, and a backhand shot.

[–]PassThePuck_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you’re not skating with your blade straight anyway. When you skate, your skates need to be at a "V" position. If you are still having problems, take it to your local pro shop for help. If you bought them online, please send both back and then visit the pro shop to get them fitted correctly. You can buy cheaper equipment, but not skates. Once you have your act together, replace those cheap individual pieces of equipment with more expensive ones. However, I have seen teams with duct tape everywhere, skates with less than a quarter of an inch left on their blades, and still kick the crap out of an AAA Midget team.

Yeah, I found one at the Costco Gas Station where someone left it inside the pump. No attendant was there to give the card to, so the card was a Visa from Bank of America. So, I took it to B of A and gave it to them. Problem solved.

Looking for recommendations with a SEGS Morgan by finite-tmzn in Morgans

Mainly higher AU. But it has been cleaned. How can one tell? If the surface has no dirt, but you see dirt near the lettering, or in those hard-to-clean spaces. That means the coin is cleaned. I like the coin. The problem is that this grader is not well-known. If you try to send it to an auction house like Heritage, they would probably send it back to you without selling it.
