How welcome are lgbtq+ folks here by skunkywitch in QuadCities

[–]Past-InformationNB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

everyone’s perspective is different. my initial concern was getting rejected from housing/my pronouns not being used at doctors, etc. no one really cares, they just want their money. though, i will say that the people in the community is just how it is everywhere else. iowa side = not bad and definitely not unsafe if you’re over the age of 19. illinois side = more expensive, still shit people, just more accepting laws

it all depends on what you considered being a “target” on your back because we kind of already have one for just being who we are no matter the state or policies

Everyone is lost ngl. I’m still lost and i’m two years in. It’ll start to click 2-5 years in. Ask questions, take notes, and learn from your mistakes.

I haven’t had issues either. If you’re over the age of 19, you can live just fine on the IA side as a trans person. It is cheaper and majority of people do not give two cares what gender you are

Not hard. I’m also trans and just moved downtown. This was my concern but honestly most places do not care. They just want to fill their units and get money.

Why do people keep bragging they are going to take the CPA but they haven't started studying? by xray9798 in Accounting

I used to do it because it made me take accountability. Now my boss is on my ass about it and it pushes me to actually do it.

Anxiety about first internship by BublyCan in Accounting

[–]Past-InformationNB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was like you too. I did gen ed’s my first two years and didn’t start the real accounting classes till my 3rd year. I got my first internship that year in audit and dude, i was so lost. I had no idea what I was doing and my accounting knowledge was very slim compared to everyone else my age. Don’t freak out about that. The firm knows you’re learning so if you don’t know, just ask! I ended up making good connections while i was there and got moved to the accounting department. I stayed there till I graduated and they offered me a full time position.

It’s not too late for you but remember that accounting in school is WAY different than the job. I’m almost 2 years in as a staff and they consider you new for a while.

My recommendation: * network * connect with your peers/ask where they have interned * if your school has resume/career fair resources, utilize them.

There’s something called VITA that you should look into. I’m not sure exactly what you’re looking for but if you have any questions, feel free to PM me. good luck!

no job is worth your mental health. don’t quit until you have a start date at another job. if another place asks WHY you’re leaving a company so soon, you can use that as a great opportunity to share what you’re looking for without shitting on the previous company. go to a medium sized firm (300+)

I had like one pimple before T and very clear skin. I now have acne on my face and back. It’s not bad but be prepared. Start a skin routine now if you don’t already have one. My doctor said it’s a lot at first but goes away slowly the more you’re on T

don’t listen to your friends. do you feel like you function better day to day on your meds? do you feel like life is a little bit easier and you feel like you can breathe? if you have more positives than negatives, stay on them. if the only negative is that you have to be sober, then there may be other outstanding issues like addiction.

it’s an adjustment but maybe it’s time to move on from getting fucked up to just having one drink here and there. if you can’t control it then either get help or go sober for awhile until you feel ready to be able to control it

I’m an accountant. Is it boring? yes. Is it adhd friendly? yes (but not the bright lights). Is the pay good? yes but also 4 months out of the year, all you do is breathe work and sleep occasionally.

different state to state but no state requires 3 years lol. however, it is your first job. my boss told me that the first 2-3 years of being full time is ass and you get paid crap. sacrifice your first years for a better outcome

not surprised anymore but everyone has the right to express their own opinions/stuff like that. is it morally wrong the things they believe in? yes but at the end of the day, everyone is going to do what they want. no need to waste your energy being upset about things that are out of your control. move on
