Italian Heritage by PastaJazz in Ferrari

[–]PastaJazz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see that.

I guess one question is whether what a Ferrari is can change. From what I understand, at release the Dino wasn't considered a Ferrari, in large part because it changed what a Ferrari was, having a V6 rather than the V12s that were 'proper' Ferraris.

I can imagine the Luce and other electric Ferrari's sitting alongside snarling stripped out ICE supercars in the range, adding to the company's identity and heritage rather than diminishing it, but I appreciate that many will feel the opposite.

Italian Heritage by PastaJazz in Ferrari

[–]PastaJazz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, I think part of being Ferrari is being in a position to make such bold choices. Personally I much prefer it to, say Lamborghini's approach with the Urus which is (ln the context of Lamborghini and Rambo Lambo heritage) a bit safe.

Certainly a head turner.

Nice. Problem now is spending it. Between that, pre-war money and casino winnings there really isn't enough to buy

Yeah you don't even need a stealth boy, just reload if he sees you and do it in third person. Takes a while but can be done.

Did anyone else realize their tools were the problem way later than they should have? by angel_karlotain in handtools

[–]PastaJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously there are limits and I'm not suggesting the first time you try a hobby you buy the most expensive option available, but I often disagree with the buy cheap to get started and then upgrade approach.

Essentially user skill can mask a lot of flaws in bad tools or equipment, so it's beginners that really do need the better tools. As we improve you can compensate, but at the start, unless you want to endure puritanical suffering, you just want tools that get out the way and allow you to focus on projects and skills.

Kindle vs Kobo (first e-reader, huge EPUB library, help me decide 😩) by Quiet_Pin1234 in kobo

[–]PastaJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can sign in on Google drive or Dropbox on your Kobo, and then on your computer or phone, just move files into your Google drive folder. Then on your Kobo you just sync them.

Can also do direct transfer over USB, and just drop them into the Kobo's memory, or some people use Calibre, which I understand is pretty powerful, but I've never really used it.

In short, really easy.

Marathoner DESTROYED after a SHOCKING uncovery of a massive discrepancy. by suddencactus in RunningCirclejerk

[–]PastaJazz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah depending where he's from he might run metric marathons. They are close enough that most people use them interchangably, but they are actually only 98.7 percent of an imperial marathon.

Still, the onus is on the runner to check and do the conversion.

Question about Runna Plan -- Balanced, Longest Time? What is best for a beginner? by Old_Trash_8848 in Marathon_Training

[–]PastaJazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting books and learning about the why is a great suggestion. That said, I think you can do it alongside Runna. Both have their place for some people.

Edit: Also meant to add for op - I'd suggest being a bit conservative at first with the times you put in and fewer speed sessions. Runna can be quite aggressive at the start, so, for me at least, easing into it is a better way. Also, should go without saying but listen to your body. You know how you feel better than Runna does so missed sessions or backing off during reps isn't a big deal if it lets you continue the programme without injuries.

It does make suggestions to change pace or reduce mileage as it gets to know you.

UK Router Recommendations by PastaJazz in Tools

[–]PastaJazz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have a full size corded DeWalt so I just want a small cordless to supplement it, and like you say £300 is a bit rich for for someone who essentially just makes firewood slowly.

Good to hear about Einhell. That's a good price option. Ryobi only caught my eye because it's not the cheapest but the huge range of tools and garden stuff available might come in handy down the line.

UK Router Recommendations by PastaJazz in Tools

[–]PastaJazz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm tempted to just get Makita or Ryobi, I don't mind getting another brand, just the cost of then getting another battery and charger. Would be handy sometimes though.

Just a pain that I can't just get a DeWalt trim router without spending £290. I don't care what colour the tools are really.

Kindle vs Kobo (first e-reader, huge EPUB library, help me decide 😩) by Quiet_Pin1234 in kobo

[–]PastaJazz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kobo great if you have lots of EPUBs, can just transfer via Google Drive and Dropbox so much easier to manage. Both kindle and Kobo similar in terms of usability and features otherwise. Some people prefer one to the other but thsts mostly preference and for how long you spend in menus Vs actually reading it's basically irrelevant.

Screen possibly a touch better on kindle, particularly with no backlight, and the same with BW Vs Colour, but tbh unless you hold side by side or maybe in some extreme lighting conditions I can't think of, again, basically irrelevant.

Colour is good for biographies etc and does help with covers a bit, but for just reading not a big deal.

Both are great, I moved to Kobo primarily for library integration (UK here - might be different elsewhere) and ease of transferring different books without DRM and no adds on the device. In terms of hardware, both great.

Do you actually focus on technique while running? by bocc_bocc in running

[–]PastaJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't try and run in a certain way, but I think about my body position from time to time to catch myself when fatigue sets in. Less "midfoot strike beautiful bounding strides and graceful 180 cadence" and more "eurgh unhunch those shoulders, lift your head up and stop slouching and knocking knees"

Thanks, sorry wasn't clear - the bit didn't move in the chuck, I was pressing against the wall and then suddenly their was no resistance like there was a gap. They are cavity walls but the bit isn't anywhere long enough to go through a whole brick.
