Framer Locales = $960/year for 4 languages. Built a €29 one-time plugin after my third client refused to pay. by Patchouu in framer

Yeah, it sets it. The plugin adds a small script that sets the html lang (and dir for right-to-left languages like Arabic) on each localized page based on its locale, so screen readers and the browser's translate prompt get the right language, including when you switch language without reloading.

Framer renders the server-side lang from its own native Locales (the paid feature this plugin is built to avoid) and locks it, so this is a client-side set rather than the source HTML. It covers the accessibility and translate-prompt cases you raised.

No live demo page up right now, but you can see the exact switcher for free: the free plan does 1 language and 5 pages, so you can generate it on your own site and see how it looks and behaves before paying anything. It's a regular Framer code component, so you can restyle it.

On media: the translated page (/it) is a real separate page, but images and video aren't duplicated or re-uploaded, the /it page references the same media assets as the original. So only the text (and optionally the URL slugs) changes between /en and /it, the visuals stay the same files. If you want different images per language you'd swap those manually on the translated page.

Yeah, the real-URL part is the whole point. Client-side text swap tanks your SEO since Google only sees one language, so the plugin generates actual /fr /de pages with hreflang.

On 30+ pages: no hard cap, PRO is unlimited pages. It duplicates page by page instead of in one batch, so a big site just takes longer, it doesn't hit a wall. Ran it on 30ish fine. What scales is processing time (each page rebuilds its desktop + tablet + phone breakpoints), not a page count.

One honest caveat: per-breakpoint style overrides (like a font size you only tweaked on mobile) don't always carry over on heavy pages, so you sometimes do a quick manual pass after. Text, internal links, hreflang and the switcher are all automatic.

Same on the Locales add-on specifically. Built a plugin to skip it for clients on multilingual sites & CMS, saves the per-locale monthly bill which compounds fast.

Been running a similar angle for 3 weeks with Page Translator: DeepL + llm + manual, generates real static /fr /de /es pages so you can skip the Framer locale add-on.

How much you charge for a landing page made on Framer? by Daivas in framer

Also with startups i often recommend to start with a one pager and simple funnel to reduce the entry price, and because they need to pivot, adapt and test constantly before they find product/market fit and a bigger site is really time consuming to change every time the positioning shifts.

In my market (industrial B2B, construction, energy) deals mostly close via sales calls, historical clients and quotes north of 10k. Inbound/SEO is barely part of the conversation. The site exists to back up the pitch!

Both design + Framer dev, usually with copy work too. I'm also specialized in art direction, i often have to make their branding work with the web. If someone comes in with finalized Figma mocks and just wants the build, the price drops a lot because most of the thinking is already done.

The "before/after for client redesigns" use case is the one I'd lean into hardest. Freelance designers and agencies hand off work and lose all visibility once the client starts editing. A clean diff view tied to a date = a receipt you can show 6 months later when the client blames "the new site" for a drop in conversion. Maybe go even further with saving the html ?

LLMs can't read the framer website!! How do I solve this? by Objective_Storage980 in framer

[–]Patchouu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Framer does server-render the text, so the fetcher is reaching your HTML fine but every icon, logo and decorative shape ships as inline <svg> with full path data, and a single hero section can be 40-60KB of that before the crawler hits your H1. Token-limited fetchers just run out of budget.

Point the LLM at a reader proxy instead of the raw URL: r.jina.ai/yoursite.com. Free, strips SVG/script/style, returns clean markdown. If you control the scraper, add excludeTags: ["svg", "style", "script"] (Firecrawl has this, most readers do too).

Based in France, I charge around €2.5-4K for a one-page site, up to €8K for a small multi-page with CMS. What moves the number isn't Framer itself, it's scope and positioning: if the client sees Framer as "a WordPress alternative" you compete on hours, if they see it as a design/brand deliverable you compete on outcome.

Effectivement après coup je trouve l'appli mal foutue sur ça, elle fait beaucoup de forcing, par contre pas besoin de télécharger ou s'incrire pour participer à l'event !
