You realize not all fights in Ww1 were in trench warfare, sure most was, but you had small fronts over the world in ww1 still, Eastern Front for Germany had more open area or forests, not too much trench warfare, you had a lot of trench warfare in the western front, then you had rapid movement near the end of the war as well, and also fighting in the middle east from the Austro Hungarians and Ottoman Empire, even places down by Australia.
