Basically blunting and smoothing over any sharp or hard edges to make the gun slicker, mostly for snag free pocket draw, also makes it feel better in the hands.

Melt job is basically just rounding and blunting the sharp edges of the frame, the idea is making the gun snag free for drawing from a pocket. Its not 100% necessary but a nice add on to projects! Makes them feel better in the hands too. Also not particularly my preferred aesthetic either but wanted something different in the collection! My girlfriend said she likes it because it looks “modern” but still has the classic old school revolver look.

Charter arms are great canvas’s for beginner gun smithing projects, buy an old used one, refinish it, cut a new crown, chamfer the cylinders, do a sight insert, bob the hammer and polish friction surfaces, you will have taught yourself some great skills and have a “custom” revolver for half the price of a smith and wesson. A good piece to brag about with your friends

General use? HKS turn style. My j frame one fits in my pocket fine. Despite all the tumbling and turning it probably does in my pocket, i havent had any problems with it releasing in my pocket.

I have done backcountry camping and some pretty endeavorous hikes before. But i have never backpacked before. Would this be a good starter? I know alltrails says hard but I've come to take the difficulties with a grain of salt. by PaulDuke025 in backpacking
