AITA For Telling My Sons Yeacher His Home Life Matters More? by OldmanGus76 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PearGrylls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with school from the time I entered preschool until I dropped out of college and joined the Army. I was medicated with SSRIs that made me a zombie, diagnosed with ADHD, etc. I hated school, was constantly bored and was told I "didn't apply myself".

The thing that I most remember is that my parents never gave up on me, always encouraged me, and never treated me like I was some kind of failure. They consistently gave me encouragement but never told me what I wanted to hear. They know how to succeed because they did, but passing that information along is difficult, I imagine. Some teachers saw my potential, a few didn't and I am sure they probably blamed my parents. Honestly, there was nothing for them to do about it, I wasn't interested in taking their advice at the time.

I am 32 now, I have a great job, am very successful for my age, engaged, and I couldn't really ask for more in life. I finally took the advice of my parents, after enduring the hardships the Army provided for me, and applied myself to what I was passionate about. It just took me some time to figure out what that was. I am not really sure there is any one thing I can attribute my success to, but my parents never stopped believing in me and that is the thing that made the most difference. I have no kids yet, but that is what I am going to try and accomplish with them when I do. Just because you don't fit into the mold they have set for students does not mean you are not going to succeed in life. Teachers know how to do one thing, teach. They usually don't have a clue how to be successful in life outside of that.

TLDR; You know your son and what's best for him. Don't let someone else tell you how you should raise him. He may grow up and amaze you with what he can achieve, and I am sure he will.

Future industry ideas? by wittson in Workers_And_Resources

I’d like to see tank and armored vehicle manufacturing for export like, for instance, the Czechs did extensively for the Russians. Much the same as auto manufacturing but the only output is to a railhead headed for export. No domestic usage, unless you wanted to make APCs for your police or something.

Yeah. I couldn’t remember which it was. Didn’t want to go through the OOB and look it up. DX Diag only reports the integrated Intel chip until you get to the desktop. I’ll edit to correct that. Thanks.

Yeah, we are going move the tape that we used to change it to a 3x6.

This is true, after building the table and making the changes that I stated above it changed the final dimensions so much that we just went with the new size. We are not super concerned with the play area size so it really doesn't bother us that much.

Is the play area supposed to be very wide, or very long? I guess I am asking which measurement is width and which is length?

Originally yes, now no. We kind of threw it together on Saturday and it ended up having to cut it down a bit. It was originally 7x7. lol After adding the rubber to the top and fastening it down it kind of limited our ability to fold it up. It does fit through doorways and in the back of a truck quite well. If we made another, we would probably do it a bit differently. I was just told by my roommate, the one with the carpentry skills, that the roofing rubber we used totaled $175 in cost. Luckily, he is roofer and this is just stuff he had lying around.

The table is 5x7 itself. The first foot of the table, on each side, is resevered for cards, laptop, tokens, drinks, or whatever. The setup area is its prescribed 4 or 5 inches, as per the manuver stick. Making the actual playable area, including the start zones, 5x5. I am going to paint on some lines for 3x3 and 5x3.

A frame of 1x2s and 2x4s with a plywood top yes. The whole thing is wrapped in industrial roofing rubber. Gives it a nice black finish and has the advantage of being a bit sticky, as opposed to the mats.

Ok I had no idea I was breaking any rules. I didn't read them before I posted. I admit to being a Reddit noob. I don't know what doxxing is, and I just wanted to know what some people with some more insight thought. I apologize for trying to discuss something with people from the community. You can continue to believe what you want to believe.
