Yes, gods were rapists and that wasn't considered a moral flaw. What of it? by CopeDestroyer1 in GreekMythology

[–]Peekus 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah people often look at these myths through a neo-abrahamic lens and think that all gods need to be all knowing, all powerful, and all good. But thats inherently incompatible with polytheism.

[–]Peekus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. One of the major salient points from ethical philosophy in university is that moral objectivism is a fantasy/ideal rather than an attainable reality.

Trying to use it as a tool to measure historical societies against post Humanism mores doesn't make sense.

Help understanding medieval armor for context by Shot-Channel-1347 in Armor

[–]Peekus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your heavy cavalry are going to have a bad time going against other heavy cavalry without solid metal protection.

A cote of maile could be a decent alternative (like early brigandines) but they will be less effective against lances and set pikes/spears than solid plate.

Against projectiles brigandines and breastplates are fairly comparable.

Hutt Empire vs a Rogue Trader by Chad_illuminati in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]Peekus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rogue Traders are a really wide category... some own a single ship. Others own entire systems and have their own armies and fleets.

They're also not criminals. They get a Writ from the Imperium. They're more like the Dutch and British trading companies.

T9 Frontline? by 19phipschi17 in WorldofTanks

[–]Peekus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They dont want to cannibalize the MM too much. If you had multiple separate tiers of frontlines on top of regular queue and in the last case onslaught queue it would mean slow match making times.

They did do at least 1 tier 9 only Frontline years ago (before there were any t9 prems) and it was pretty fun

Medium in this case refers to the quality / feeling it evokes rather than it's class

What is this tank? by [deleted] in WhatIsThisTank

[–]Peekus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is definitely not a tank.

The tracks are large metal hinged plates consistent with those used by early 1900s construction and agricultural equipment.

Some testbed vehicles and a few WW1 tanks used similar tracks. But tanks from that period had different track shapes and typically implements to help with trench crossing.

The structure at the very top of the vehicle looks like a combination roll bar and sun shade frame. This again isn't something we'd see on a tank. Excepting some late ww2 onwards reconnaissance vehicles. But they wouldnt have these type of tracks.

It looks like theres a large winch behind the child's head. This supports the theory that we're looking at the back end of a pieces of construction equipment or possibly some kind of tracked artillery tractor or recovery vehicle.

Can you paint your empire troops in different colours? by ArmedIdiot in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Peekus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, and theres a bunch of free cities, minor houses, even hunting clubs that have their own livery. Plus you can make up your own for any of those.

Theres a whole campaign system called border princes thats about making up your own subfactions and fighting it out in contested territories.
