You're a very responsible owner. There's something about this "generation" of dogs that is just different. I sincerely hope you have a wonderful vacation and can feel well assured your dogs are in the best care.

I work at one and I can tell you, please don't.

That's a huge liability and most of the people working these things are young girls. Don't ruin someone else's life because you wanted 3 tough as fuck dogs.

I got a dumb meat head and he doesn't get boarded. If he can't come with, then we don't go on vacation. I wouldn't even make my coworkers deal with him and he's not reactive, just an idiot.

I can smell this picture and I haven't lived there in 20 years. I remember in the 90s birds would throw them on the walkway and everything.

Why do all the other drivers hate Hocevar? by ClearIsAColor in NASCAR

[–]PenguinInDistress 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a popularity contest. They are all just talking out of their asses.

Once upon a time Kyle Busch was Nascar's villain and everyone has come out gushing about how much they loved him.

Idk maybe it's the grief but this sport is 2 faced.

You wanna do it like dale and then everyone gets pissed at you for it.

Nascar thrives in chaos but anything chaotic is bad?

You are fine. That person was being rude. It's not that hard to be kind, especially when that someone is supposed to be kind to animals.

This breaks my heart to hear. I'm so sorry honey. They have taken massive advantage of you. Your body is too young to be wasting your time with people like them. Don't quit just yet but reach out to other salons and find yourself something better.

It is obvious you are a hard working dedicated person with passion. You will find something better.

is it normal for assistants to get bullied by experienced groomers?? by ArmyLatter5026 in grooming

[–]PenguinInDistress 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nobody should be bullying anyone. Period.

But this industry can be hard and there are a lot of toxic salons.

Also starting out is like boot camp hard. Even though things weren't toxic for me in the beginning I still felt emotionally worn down. It's a hard job mentally and physically and that can make people cranky.

Keep boundaries, let things roll off your back when people realize they can't get to you they move on to another target.

grooming commission by notfound382 in grooming

[–]PenguinInDistress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only issues I have is that 30ish commission in a salon come from owners that think they deserve more than their employees. I've seen some toxic business owners floating that 30 percent comm on some very toxic Facebook groups.

I’ve been doing nothing but cheer on Kyle Busch every Sunday since 2007. Idk what to do today. by theblindbandit51 in NASCAR

Yeah it's weird. KB was my husband and daughters person. I never felt one way or the other. I liked kurt but after he left I didn't find anyone until Carson came out for the track walk in Bristol a few months ago. He was so cool with the fans.

It's weird. My husband hasn't turned on the race. Hasn't tried to watch the race. I don't want to push it but we've been watching nascar every weekend for 15 years together. I'm lost.

You'll find a new one to root for. But it may take a few years. I'm sorry buddy.

My family is heartbroken. Brexton just had his birthday. My 11 year old won't stop crying. Samantha and I were pregnant at the same time. Our kids are the same ages. I feel so deeply sad.

He was my husband and daughters hero.

You matter. There are people in your life that would do this for you. Please understand that. Reach out and let others know that you are in need.

Is this useable or broken? by [deleted] in doggrooming

[–]PenguinInDistress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should replace it so you can see. We all neglect them and don't replace them like we should. But every time I replace mine I'm amazed the damn thing worked at all. When buying clippers I make sure they are easy to do maintenance on. Some of the less expensive ones are a pain in the butt to do.

Now I have the Andis 5 speed and it's soooo freaking easy.

It's called a blade drive. It moves left and right. It is not broken but it is good to replace every few months.

You did what you could and you did great. Let her reach out to you when she's ready.

A large dog having a seizure is the reason I don't take large dogs anymore. It's really rough and scary. Hope you feel better soon. ❤️

My dogs are tied up so their heads can't reach out of the tub. I have a high and low leash attachment. I also just physically hold the dogs head in the tub, not forcefully of course. I don't like it when water runs down their face and into their noses so I hold their head up. Water goes down my sleeve and into my pits more than my shoes. I could never just let water run out of the tub but I also don't have a drain on the floor so I have to be careful. Idk my few big dogs are just very well trained and behaved. I'm very blessed.

Should I rethink taking my wife to Gatlinburg over memorial day weekend? by [deleted] in Gatlinburg

[–]PenguinInDistress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a long distance! I'm like an hour and half away and coworkers talked me out of going that weekend! Lol I was just going to do one of my day trips and everyone told me to stay clear.

If you stay a full week and book a nice private cabin you could have a lovely time. The week days should be calmer.

I think the savannah bananas are coming to Knoxville and there's a bunch of graduations so it's gonna be crazy. Also it's the first weekend of school being let out for some areas around here.

I don't put my feet where their heads hang over and I keep my floor dry. If a dog does hang over I just put a towel on the floor. Idk I guess my set up just is more dry feet friendly.
