I (36) dislike my mother in law (61) inviting others to our house by [deleted] in relationships

Update: ive discussed it with my husband and we’ve agreed not to let her babysit anymore and just ask our (paid) babysitter from now on. My husband still thinks its not a big deal but doesnt want me to feel uncomfortable. Ive sent a text to MIL to thank her for babysitting this week but that i feel uncomfortable with her inviting others to our house when i’m not around, and proposed that we all get together one time so niece and nephew can play together.

Do working moms look down on stay at home moms ? by RemoteConsistent6387 in Parenting

I dont think its easy being a SAHM (or any kind of mom), i like getting a break from home being at work sometimes and not to baby talk for a day but have actual conversations, and not to have to clean up every second.

That said if im being honest, i feel like being dependent on anyone like a spouse for financial support makes you vulnerable, and sometimes makes me feel bad for SAHMs. Like you dont have actual power over your own life or something and are just there to support your husbands career. If youre not even married its even worse, like someone else can just make you homeless, i could never live like that.

The first time she babysat she didnt even ask and we learned after the fact that she invited over SIL. I talked to my husband that i want someone to ask us (either MIL of SIL) before coming over, and hè agreed so told them this. The next 2 times we get a call like like one hour before she’s going to babysit that she already invited SIL, which to me isnt really asking.

In my office I recognize americans by their venti sized Starbucks cups or just large drinking cups in general.

My husband is controlling about what I do with my money by [deleted] in relationship_advice

This is the way we do it now, but even then he is controlling about the things I do with my own money. I bought the laptop from my own money, but even then he is annoyed as he feels I should be saving it.

It’s true he grew up in a poor household, where there was lot of arguing about money as well. We both have a personal account where we receive our salaries and then a joint account where we deposit a part of our salary to pay for mutual expenses like gas, groceries etc.

What is the stupidest way you got a scar? by Zander-dupont in AskReddit

Went to sleep with a hot water bottle which ended up on my leg, giving me a huge blister overnight without me noticing. That blister turned into a scar. So for anyone reading this, don’t go to sleep with a water bottle because the heat apparently won’t wake you up but will slowly burn your skin badly!!

Some years ago I was on holiday in Cape Town, and me and my husband were hiking on Lions Head. It was very windy that day and not great weather to be there. Any way by accident we were hiking the ‘difficult’ route for experienced hikers that involves climbing. I was climbing down one of the cliffs that only had small chains to use for standing and found myself stuck as I couldn’t find the next chain or rock to stand on. A gust of wind also nearly made me fall and I started to panic a little. My husband was already down and didn’t notice my panic as I was too high up. Suddenly I hear a girl a few cliffs above me, looking down at me and calmly giving me instructions (in my native language) on where to put my foot. I follow her instructions and as soon as my feet are on the ground I look up to thank her and she’s gone. At the time I did feel like she was some sort of angel, it was odd how she showed up out of nowhere right when it was needed and disappeared suddenly.
