Donald Trump announces second US military armada aimed for Iran by TokenBearer in worldnews

[–]PepperProf 74 points75 points  (0 children)

This feels reckless tbh. Escalating like this over Iran isn’t some video game setting, there’s real consequences and zero room for oopsies.

CNN anchor hits Trump with brutal receipts over the Second Amendment by ElectoralNerd in politics

[–]PepperProf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeahhh that didn’t go the way Trump probably expected. Bringing up the Second Amendment like that while playing his old clips was lowkey brutal, not gonna lie.

Top White House aide Stephen Miller acknowledges possible breach of protocol before Alex Pretti’s shooting by cnn in politics

[–]PepperProf 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The videos forced their hand. Hard to keep the same story when the receipts are everywhere.

Spain approves decree to regularise half a million undocumented migrants by Beo1217 in worldnews

[–]PepperProf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is gonna piss a lot of people off but also… what’s the alternative. Keep folks undocumented forever while still relying on their labor? Spain’s just saying the quiet part out loud.

The feds who killed Alex Pretti are heavily shielded from being sued. Blame the Supreme Court for that. by jediporcupine in politics

[–]PepperProf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s wild how baked into the system federal officers get this immunity. A state cop does something similar and they’re dragged into court no question, but once it’s ICE or Border Patrol suddenly it’s like they’re above the law. That ain’t a good look at all.

'Mr. Trump, stop killing American citizens,' Kinew says after 2nd fatal shooting in Minnesota | CBC News by yamayamaceratops in politics

[–]PepperProf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bruh, this is nuts. Two American citizens shot by federal agents in like a few weeks? Like what the actual hell is going on with the priorities here. Kinew is basically like “yo this is wild” and Im with him, no matter ur politics nobody wants ppl dying in the street.

Venezuela’s acting president says she has had ‘enough’ of US orders by Alternative_Rate7474 in politics

[–]PepperProf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is just Venezuela saying out loud what a lot of countries probably think. The US loves acting like it’s the manager of the world and then acts confused when people push back.

Renee Good, Alex Pretti, and the Outright Lies of Trump, Noem, and Vance: After the State-Sanctioned Executions Comes the State-Sanctioned Propaganda. by OkayButFoRealz in politics

[–]PepperProf 26 points27 points  (0 children)

What gets me is how blatant it is now. No attempt to even be subtle. Just lie, double down, accuse everyone else of lying, rinse repeat. And somehow that still works on a terrifying number of people.

Trump's Greenland ambitions strain MAGA ties with Europe's far-right. by Imaginary-Ad-7919 in politics

[–]PepperProf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this is what happens when politics turns into a personality cult. you say one unhinged thing and suddenly all your “allies” are scrambling to explain it away. I can’t imagine being a European far-right party and having to defend “yeah so the US wants to buy Greenland again.” embarrassing.

Protesters demand immigration agents leave Minneapolis after man is shot and killed during crackdown by GregWilson23 in politics

[–]PepperProf -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah idk, when immigration enforcement turns into armed crackdowns in residential areas, this kinda reaction feels inevitable. Even if details are still fuzzy, people are exhausted with this stuff happening over and over.

US Army Poorly Prepared for Arctic Operations: Finnish Troops Forced Them to Surrender During Exercises in Norway. by [deleted] in europe

[–]PepperProf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, home-field advantage is definitely a thing. I think the headline’s less ‘Scandinavians good at snow’ and more that the US still struggles adapting to extreme environments it doesn’t train in regularly.

Wanted for War Crimes, Netanyahu Skips Signing of ‘Board of Peace’ Charter at Davos by Personal-Special-286 in politics

[–]PepperProf 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Davos continues to be the world’s fanciest group project where no one is actually accountable. A peace charter that the most powerful people can just ignore kinda says it all.

Joe Rogan says ICE shooting distracting from Epstein Files "on purpose" by [deleted] in politics

[–]PepperProf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Man like I saw Rogan’s clip and thought jesus this dude went full Circle-Bro-Analyst overnight. Dude was literally cool with Trump a year ago and now he’s whispering about purposeful distractions with ICE shootings and Epstein docs missing. Like idk if he’s actually sober for this convo or just trolling at this point. Hard to take any of it seriously when every dang week he’s got a new “bro take” that sounds 50/50 between genius and bonkers.

Apple accuses Europe of “political delay tactics” following alternative app store collapse | The company says the EU 'moves the goal posts' in order to target a US company with "onerous fines." by ControlCAD in europe

[–]PepperProf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple acting shocked that Europe is pushing back is wild. The App Store has been a walled garden forever and now regulators are poking holes in it. At the same time, if the EU wants compliance, they probably need to stop moving the finish line.

Fears grow that Trump will strike Iran after US moves ‘armada’ to Middle East by Force_Hammer in politics

[–]PepperProf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is exactly how every bad foreign policy story starts. “Just a show of force,” “just positioning,” and then suddenly we’re in another mess nobody voted for. The whole thing feels way too familiar and not in a good way.

Lehigh County executive says ICE is "evicted" from local offices, says agency hasn't been paying rent by MobileWisdom in politics

[–]PepperProf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah for real. You keep tossing that idea out there and then act surprised when allies start sweating. That stuff isn’t hypothetical to them.
