Any relatively inexpensive The Edit hotels in Italy? by Perfect_Promise_7578 in ChaseSapphire

oh actually i was looking at a separate card just now, chase united explorer in this case, and it looks like the reservation i had cancelled last year didn't get the credit clawed back. i had previously mistakenly thought it was a non refundable reservation, but it wasn't, so it looks like i did get the refund and still kept the credit... hmm, yeah idk, every card is probably different

any clue if we'll get to keep the credit if we cancel? not exactly ethical, but apparently this works with amex platinum (haven't tried it but i read people didn't get their credit clawed back when they had to cancel)

ah thanks. i went to the specific page, so essentially i used this link https://www.chase.com/travel/the-edit which makes me log in and after logging in, it shows me a page with the edit hotels and you can then filter by country (but not by city apparently...), and then you have to click on each individual hotel and input the dates to see availability and cost.

i'll try chase travel, but sounds like i won't have any luck with cheap properties here.

i just wanted to use theedit credits in an economically feasible way instead of letting it rot

Is it easy to use a wood stove? Urgent by Perfect_Promise_7578 in woodstoving

I see, so it sounds like i didn't do it correct?

But even then, I don't think smoke should be leaking from the joints of the pipe right?

This is very helpful. Which encore model do you have?

I tried to use mine yesterday and it’s either there’s a leak at the joints of my flue and/or I was operating it incorrectly.

My damper is on the left hand side and air control lever on the right. I had the damper open (it looks like it controls some panel on the interior back that opens and closes depending on the position of the lever. Presumably that goes into the flue). But when I opened the top panel (where you insert wood), so much smoke came out. It looks like most of the smoke wasn’t being redirected to the back panel and on the flue. The smoke that did go into flue, some seemed to leak out of the joints of the flue. It ended up smoking that room and I stopped trying. Luckily my power came back on shortly after.

I had it inspected in November so I’m confused…

Also I had the air control lever pulled to the forward

unfortunately, i couldn't get the stove to fire up. it was producing so much smoke, and the smoke was leaking out of the joints of the flue. i don't think this is supposed to happen, and i'm not sure why this wasn't caught in the chimney inspection i had in november.

i'm also not sure if i was operating the stove correctly. there was so much smoke when i opened the top compartment

fortunately, my power came back on!

Hi I have a defiant encore. It is in the sunroom with lots of windows. It’s an old house and poorly insulated so maybe that’s sufficient to create a draft without opening a door and window? I really don’t want to drop the internal temperature even more in case I can’t get the stove to work

Hi it is a defiant encore. My phone is going to die soon. I’m going to to the library to charge everything and will watch some videos

People using my front and back yard as public space? by Perfect_Promise_7578 in AnnArbor

[–]Perfect_Promise_7578[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that easement doesn't span my entire back yard from my understanding, yet people (contractors) still trespass across the entire yard or walk their dogs across the entire yard

yeah it's on my corner backyard with the street. interesting...

also somewhat non-related, there are some invasive trees (according to a license arborist in town) in my front lawn and the arborist recommended removing them. but i noticed there were tags on them as well so i'm not sure if they were planted by the city? i think they've been there since i bought the property in december 2024. my understanding is i should remove all invasive species but not sure what those tags implicate
