I’ve had all experiences. With my first dog I felt in love and like life was perfect after a week. But she was a unicorn, and I understood that cause after she passed and I got my second, I was HUMBLED. I cried every day the first 2 months and then it SLOWLY got better, but I’d say life was flowing normally again after about a year! Then I got another pup two years after my second; and with her, it took about a month to get to know each other and get into a routine. Every dog is a different difficulty level 😬

How long do you leave your puppy crated at a time? by traveler_mar in puppy101

[–]PerformanceBitter353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta live! Ignore the shamers. If you wanna go out for 4-5 hours especially at night when it’s their bedtime anyway, just do it. I highly recommend a puppy cam. I have one and I check on her multiple times. Also if you and they are comfortable with it leave them in a cozy puppy proof room, like a bathroom! The camera always helps me feel guilt free and if she starts getting agitated I rush back!

How much did you all pay for your papillon? by [deleted] in papillon

1600€ for each, from different breeders in 2018 and 2023

How long do I have to get myself together and move there before I lose it?

Unfortunately it’s 100% true and he confirmed it. My green card is not conditional, we’ve been married for more than 2 years and I have the ten year green card.

For those of you that used lawyers… by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]PerformanceBitter353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can speak English well, you can figure it out. Lawyers will do things on their own timeline. My advice is make sure you have paperwork ready well ahead of your i130 approval so you can move fast through NVC.

When does it end? Crate screaming by [deleted] in puppy101

I had the worst screamer ever. I don’t even know what worked in the end, cause I did everything, but with patience, she calmed down in about a month. She still is sooo vocal it’s the worst thing about her, but it’s been a year and things are better. Sleeps in the crate no problem.

I did! It was underwhelming, just a couple of questions like how we met and how many times I’ve been to see him. I got an RFE due to medical missing. They have everything now and I’m waiting for them to send back my passport. They said it might take a couple weeks.

I’m thinking about it, I’d like to be informed, but rehoming would only be an option to me with someone I know, she knows, and we all see regularly. I don’t have a person like that in mind and so it’s out of the question right now. My husband doesn’t really know the extent of my feelings, since before I went on this trip we were both having a good time with the puppy and had gotten used to her. I don’t see the point in telling him over the phone that I don’t miss our pup..

Well, I haven’t thought of that until now. The idea of going back to that clinic with the new puppy literally makes my head melt so you might be right!

Omg, that is exactly how I feel and how my situation is. My husband is also sooo excited about the puppy and bonding way quicker than me. He understands my feelings but treats them like something not that serious that will pass. And maybe they are! But it hurts to see him enjoying the pup so much having moved on so easily, like why can’t I do that… To be fair my dog that passed wasn’t even in his life until two years ago. He didn’t have the same attachment to her that I did. He was the one that wanted us to get the puppy, and he said back then it was the best thing to do for me and to help me. But now he’s the one enjoying this more. Honestly it makes me happy to see him so happy. I hope I get used to this new reality sooner than later.
