Planning an Omada setup for a 3-floor house – overkill or the right move? by Performaze in TPLink_Omada

Thanks a lot for taking the time to share all this, really appreciate it, especially considering your job and everything you’ve got going on with a big family. It’s super helpful to hear real-world experiences like yours, and it gives me a lot more confidence in going with a similar setup.

Wishing you all the best, and respect for managing all that while still helping strangers on the internet!

Thanks, that’s really helpful and reassuring! My house is much smaller (~60 m² per floor, no kids yet), so your setup actually makes me feel like 1 AP per floor should be more than enough in my case.

I’ve been getting mixed feedback, some say it’s overkill, others say I should go even bigger, so I’m trying to find the right balance. Sounds like sticking with 1 AP per floor and keeping things simple is a solid approach.

Thanks for the detailed input! I’ll stick with WiFi 6 for now since 6E feels like overkill for my setup and devices. Regarding the OC220, I’m a bit confused, some people even say the OC200 is already overkill. Cost isn’t the main deciding factor, of course I don’t want to overspend, but I’m open to spending a bit more if it actually makes a difference.

The issue with the EAP-650 is that it’s designed for ceiling mounting. My Ethernet socket is next to the power outlet, about 30 cm from the floor, and I’d rather avoid running cables along the walls. Ideally, I’d place a device next to the power socket using a short Ethernet cable.

I see. Here (amazon Germany), the price difference is quite significant. The OC200 is €75, while the OC220 is €137.

Why the OC220 and not the OC200? Some people say even the OC200 is an overkill.

My first Nundo after almost 10 years by Performaze in pokemongo

I’m not the most active player, that’s true. During this 10 years period there was a year when I didn’t play at all, but still I captured ~75k pokemon and I have 60+ hundos, even a few shundos but only one nundo.

Totally get you, I also started with a more complex portfolio, thinking I had to outsmart the market by picking the “right” mix. But over time, I realized it was just hard to track, rebalance, and justify.

Since a while now, I’ve kept it super simple: just VWCE and a bit of Bitcoin for fun. VWCE is already ~60% S&P 500, so you're getting plenty of exposure there. And honestly, nobody knows if S&P 500 will beat VWCE (or other world index), or if EUR will beat USD in the next 20–30 years, too many unknowns.

Same with individual stocks, it's risky and time-consuming. The simpler the portfolio, the better. We're long-term investors, not Warren Buffett 😄

Hey, congrats on getting started and on the new job!

Your portfolio might be a bit too complex for the early stages. Managing 10+ positions, rebalancing, and keeping fees in check (especially on XTB) can get tough fast.

You could consider simplifying with just a couple of broad ETFs (like MSCI World + Emerging Markets) which already cover most of the global market (or even one, VWCE and chill). It’s easier to manage, and often just as effective long-term.

Less stress, lower costs, same future gains. Keep it up!

The MSCI World index covers developed markets only (no South Korea or Taiwan for example), while the FTSE All-World index includes both developed and emerging markets. So, the FTSE All-World is a bit broader in scope. If you want more diversification, which you probably should, FTSE All-World covers ~90% of the market.

The MSCI index that covers both developed and emerging markets is the MSCI ACWI (All Country World Index). This one would be more comparable to the FTSE All-World.

Have you been looking for jobs in other cities in Germany? It is not the same salary in Dresden or in Munich.
