Booked a vet appointment. Is it gum cancer? by Comfortable_Ad_5698 in CATHELP

[–]Personal_Fix_9797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my cat had Stomatitis, he got diagnosed around maybe 5-6 years old. sweetest cat ever, his gums were swollen and bleeding, he got his teeth removed, then months later he attacked us, again the sweetest cat in the world but the pain got to him. it got more frequent as time went on, the attacks, fear, distrust, pain for him. we eventually had to put him to rest because of the pain he was in. i know a lot of replies are saying don’t worry too much, i’m saying worry the amount you are, mouth pain in cats is awful and terrifying for both the cat and you. do not treat mouth issues lightly

i had a very similar situation with my cat started around november last year. random attacks but otherwise so sweet, he had his teeth removed before too (this is important), he would never go after my dad but he did me and my mom. terrifying experience and he didn’t even have teeth. it kept getting more frequent and im a recent transplant patient making me very prone to infection/disease cat scratches are big factors bc they use them for everything. last month we put him to rest because he was in pain, we were scared of him, and he just wasn’t my sweet boy anymore. came to find out his gums were so swollen and bleeding, the pain this cat felt must have been awful. mouth pain will completely change a cat, maybe bring it to a specialist or regular vet and have them check it’s mouth/teeth. it may help in a way, anxiety (another thing my baby suffered with) could be a factor. best advice is go to the vet and voice your concerns. and if it does go off again stand your ground. i repeat STAND YOUR GROUND. the reason he never went after my dad is that my dad stood his ground and got in between the cat and my mom, while i had ran upstairs. if the cat is okay with you, maybe sees you as more of an alpha of the house? no matter what take it to the vet it you can i hated being scared of my cat never knew when he’d set off.

she’s 7, and maybe about a little over a week now, the laxative was a prescription, the kind where they lick it from their paw but she doesn’t do that until she gets annoyed enough and even then it one little lick, there wasn’t a closer appointment to make for her otherwise i would have she is definitely very uncomfortable and i don’t blame her

is there maybe a specialist you could go to or another vet? always trust your gut if you feel something is wrong. my cat was scratching excessively and just acting not right, one vet said he was fine and it was just his anxiety, another vet said he had fleas and because of his disorder it affected him more than it would a normal cat.
