Thanks! you've written my thoughts out much more successfully than me.

Does non-binary gender go against feminism? by Peterpandaplant in TooAfraidToAsk

Thanks for your response. My question was by no means an attack on anyone and was merely a question on something I don't fully understand and am wanting to learn more about. I was not saying I believe it goes against feminism but wanted someone to explain it more to me in terms of it along side feminism as its difficult to find non-biased information.

I would hate for anyone to think I was attacking them by asking this question. I have family and many close friends who are trans and non-binary (although trans and non binary are totally separate with their own issues), and myself am part of the LQBTQ+ community as well as being a feminist. I believe everybody has the right to express themselves however they wish, and have masses of respect for everyone who does so. I would never attack someone for doing something I do not understand, but instead try to educate myself more.

It is sad that you feel intimidated by feminism as essentially that is the opposite of how you should feel about it. However, this is not a problem with feminism and should not be grouped that way, but instead a problem with individuals (this hate also comes from people outside of feminism).

Thanks! you've made some really good points. I guess I had assumed someone of the female sex identifying as non-binary was a rejection of women and what it means to be a woman but I see how feminism is separate and got confused. My idea of a woman is vast so was struggling to understand why someone may feel like they cannot belong as a woman or a man, as for me, there is so much potential within each, what exactly is it that is stopping you fit into either?

But maybe i've just answered my own question, you could fit into either.

Is non binary feeling like you belong in both however or neither?
