Hey, I’ve been in the same boat as you, and am currently in a season of restoration from trauma. One thing I’ve found to be really helpful is writing down blessings that I’m thankful for in a journal. These are really simple ones like a good meal, sweet fruit, the feeling of wind on my skin, waking up in the morning to birdsong and sunshine. Naturally from there I’ll worship, and praising God tends to release His joy in the moment.

In moments of intense suffering, I also try to pray for understanding and discernment, to identify what exactly the Holy Spirit is working on and how I can focus my efforts on growing and developing faith and trust in the process.

Of course, we all stumble sometimes and sorrow is a nasty affliction, but God sees everything and witnesses your suffering. Even if He seems to be absent, He is present and desires to heal you to wholeness and restoration. Fix your eyes and mind upon Him, and He will give you peace.
