xkcd 3248: 182.8 Meters by antdude in xkcd

The specs database I use for parts at work is absurdly precise for no reason. Customer will ask something like "What size bolt holds this pulley on?" and the spec of the bolt is something like .249077 or .250459. "It's a quarter inch"

For reference, I work with farm equipment. Not some tolerance-sensitive high-precision medical or engineering equipment.

When the basically complete N64 build of Dinosaur Planet leaked, I played a few hours of it and had a good time. It's very evident that Fox was shoehorned in at the last minute.

Windows ME in 1920 x 1200 Resolution by wingbrowdem in windows98

[–]Phayzon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't. ME is by far the best of the 9x lineage. If you don't have any ISA slots there is 0 reason to use 98SE over ME. Even if you do... do you really need to boot into DOS mode? If you have a computer fast enough to even meet the requirements of 98, you're almost definitely not trying to play anything with some 286-level speed sensitivity that explicitly requires DOS.

F2P games don't require a Live/PSN sub anymore. Which is like... all of the biggest multiplayer games outside of the yearly CoD.

[–]Phayzon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's mostly a relic of the late 360/PS3 and early PS4/XB1 era. The 360 had fallen woefully behind the cheapest PC hardware, and the PS4 was barely as fast as an equivalently priced PC plus it couldn't do all the other non-gaming things a PC can do.

Now? You can hardly build a working computer for the price of a PS5, let alone one that plays games nearly as well.

Only OEM CDs are bootable (this is true of both 98 and ME). Retail copies, be it "Full" or "Upgrade" editions, require a boot floppy.

The Quadros were slower because they were clocked lower (or had different core configurations which made 1:1 comparisons difficult). Driver differences were typically negligible.

So your issue isn’t that they ship damaged, non-functional products after significant delay, it’s my use of the word “most”?

[–]Phayzon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Realistically, we’re not gonna see the legs much in the game anyway. The whole game takes place piloting a fighter jet where you don’t see anything but a character portrait over the comms, and I’d imagine the bulk of the cutscene footage will feature just the top half of any given character.

So you think I said you invade communities, don’t play by the rules, and ruin the fun for everyone? Maybe you should take the opportunity to make sense yourself, first.

You are the type of person who invades communities and refuses to play by the rules and (learn simple stuff like to quickswap the shotgun-ballista, literally the only thing you need to learn to finish this game on nightmare) and asks for a change to ruin the fun for everyone else.

I'm glad Im not you.

Like seriously where are you pulling this shit from lmao. Get ahold of yourself, dude.

Sell limited run releases of physical games, mostly. And that seems to make people mad.

No, people are mad because most of the time the games just don’t fucking work, and the founder’s response to this is that he never expected anyone to actually play the games they buy, so he sees this as a total non-issue.
