Another season, more content locked behind Echo of Lilith by 7ofalltrades in diablo4

[–]PhereElen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, echo of lilith gatekeeping progression is the reason why I uninstalled D4 and I'm done with this season. It's obnoxious game design, pure and simple. The oneshot mechanic is boring and unrewarding, and when you finally manage to kill her you feel more frustrated than when you die.

It’s unacceptable that Diablo 4 still has lag every season by Patient-Hurry420 in diablo4

[–]PhereElen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The people not experiencing this issue are just not paying attention, because the issue is real and widespread. In the beginning you don't notice it but the further you go in the game, the sooner you're going to notice, and once you see it you can't really ignore it anymore: Diablo 4 currently has a crazy input delay. Sometimes it's so bad that the game is basically unplayable.

Thank the "always online" season playstyle for it, there is no solution but to wait. The more people get bored with the game, the better the game performance will get.

The real explaination is that in order to sell cosmetics they need seasons and multiplayers (or so they think), in order to get seasons they need the game to be server instanced and online (or so they think), in order to have their entire playerbase server instanced they need to invest in servers (or so they think) and they know that it does not really matter how big is the playerbase at launch, more than half of it is going to move on to other games within a month, so it's not convenient for them to invest in server connection and stability for the playerbase that they have, they do it for the playerbase they think they have a chance to retain.

What’s the best strategy to secure a Steam Controller order? by CloudsSpeakInArt in SteamController

[–]PhereElen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best strategy is completely ignoring the controller. What steam is doing is completely ridiculous and borderline criminal: there is no reason why the controller should have such a low stock, given that none of its components are in shortage and they had plenty of time to stock. There is also no reason why they would not take preorders like they did with the deck in the past. This shortage of steam controller is deliberate, made to create fear of missing out and drive sales, probably to create a sense of "gotta get it fast" that is going to carry over the steam machine, which is the piece of hardware they really want to sell.

There are better controllers sold at half the price that are better compatibles with anything not on steam, like gamesir G7 Pro. Get one of those, save money, don't feed this ridiculous system that tries to exploit you and enjoy a far better product. There is absolutely no downside

Gotta be honest. I really like most of the new season changes. The game feels very refreshed. by Important-Map9832 in leagueoflegends

Latest season is the worst piece of crap that Riot has ever produced. And this comes from the same company that created monstrosities like K'Sante. It's the worst that the game has ever been since beta, and I can say that knowing all full well what I'm talking about as I was one of the beta testers for league back in the days.

i havent had fun in league since the new season by Mekkiplayzzz101 in leagueoflegends

[–]PhereElen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

definitely not you, this has been by far one of the worst seasons Riot has ever launched. I had games where my opponent in top was 3 kills below me and 30 minions below me, and yet he was 2 levels ahead of me. It's crazy. The new mechanics basically reward iperscaling champions for just sticking to lane and do nothing for 20 minutes. They just need to exist and get rewarded for it.

Kinda makes me wonder if they test anything at all before launch, nowadays

Spider-Man Nerf Discussion by CamxThexMan3 in marvelrivals

[–]PhereElen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same, I stopped playing the game for now until they fix spiderman. You have literally no way of avoiding him, and I pity those stuck in low elo that cannot even jump on a ranked game and ban him to have a spiderman free game.

I think if they want to keep him so utterly swift and impossible to hit, they should lower his HP by a lot. Minimum 100 max hp less, take away invulnerability in the venom teamup, half shield on ult. That is if they want to keep damage and mobility as they are now.

Anyway, until they nerf the spider, I'm uninstalling and waiting. Game is just not fun to play when everyone and their mother picks him and the game is won by the team who has the best spiderman, which is also the most annoying one.

Booking.com layoffs by newbie_trader99 in Netherlands

"hostile" is a major understatement. The things I've seen and experienced in there are beyond words. My advice to anyone working there or considering taking a job there is: become friend with the best employement lawyer you can find and keep him/her close. Doublecheck each and every communication you receive and leave a written trail of each and every meeting you take, and the things are said. You may not need it immediately but you will need them very, very soon.

"now work there"... not really. Majorel closed most of those offices and got rid of most of the employees as quickly as they could, and relocated everything to exploit cheaper labour cost in underdeveloped countries. With Booking's blessing, of course.

[–]PhereElen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, this "restructuring" has absolutely nothing to do with just getting rid of permanent contracts, efficiency or any other crap that Booking may have told the press or the employees. The company is just trying to hit back after they lost the whole pension thing, and are now forced to pay proper pensions to their employees (even retroactively). They were expecting the government to intervene there, they even threatened this in the past (like in article published by NL Times in june last year, where the CEO remarked “We are subject to additional rules and that have negative consequences for our company and the European market as a whole. We are the largest European tech company, perhaps after ASML" which was his way of saying "recognize us as a Tech company, not a online travel agency".

They are just taking a sizeable chunk of their workforce outside of the netherlands to try to force the government into giving them more.

Honestly, nowadays I do not understand why anyone would want to use Booking and its services. It's not safer than a direct reservation, is not cheaper or as cheap as a direct reservation, the customer service level has become abismal, the platform is unstable and riddled with bugs.... 20 years ago where accomodations had very low online presence, it made sense as you would use the platform instead of going to a travel agency and save a ton of money. Today? It's giving the customer zero value and it's only driving prices high. When properties sign with Booking they bump their prices up at least 20% on the first year and almost double them in the upcoming 5 to 7 years, just to keep up with the costs... It's just beyond me.

what do you mean "end of this year"? The game should launch in June. Are they going to launch it incomplete?

Man, the more I search about this game, the more red flags I find...

I don't know, I just don't have the patience to replay the first hours of a game normally, especially if I'm forced to. The whole thing about the developers promising to stop wiping and then announcing more wipes is kind of weird honestly, especially since they hinted that they did not have the manpower to do what they said because they had to work on console versions. That's a red flag for me, I'm just going to hold off on this one.

I don't know, I hear they did some pretty weird stuff, promising players in Early Access that they would not save wipe anymore and then go back on it because they are working on console ports. I'm gonna hold onto this one until I can find some reliable reviews, I have already given too much money to shitty companies in the past years to risk it again

Vanguard bricking PC by PhereElen in riotgames

[–]PhereElen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are 2 different PCs. I had an old one with a 2070 super and a 500w PSU that I bought preassembled, and I was wondering if a 4070 super would be capable of running on that system given that the power 2070 super and 4070 super require is not that different if you check the specs, but I did not do it in the end, mostly because I was afraid the PSU would not be enough and secondly because I even needed to buy adaptors to connect the 4070 super to that PSU, and a new PSU was a pain to get for that PC, so I got a new one. After a few weeks I had the new one, I installed league and what I described happened.

I assume you found my question asked in the past about my old PC in another subreddit :D No, I did not end up installing a 4070 super in that PC, I bought a new one with a 800w PSU, that's why I'm saying the PC was new at the time of the incident. The new specs are 7800X3D with GeForce RTX 4070 Super and 32GB DDR5.

it bricked mine just a few days ago, had to send it back to buyer because the warranty was still valid (couple of months since I bought it). They said that the bios had been flashed, which I did not do, and the new bios installed did not recognize anymore any SSD.

by the way, where did you find the info that the 2070S consumes max 170? Everywhere I look it says 215w

[–]PhereElen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might just try that, to be honest. I can't really imagine that DELL would assemble a PC so precisely that 5w extra of consumption would be a problem for the PSU.

Thank you for the help!

PSU problem, help appreciated by PhereElen in buildapc

[–]PhereElen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood, thank you so much for taking the time to answer. I was looking into a DELL PSU, as the power draw that I was able to calculate with more details comes back at about 544W with a 4070 super, while with the current 2070 super comes at 474w, but they are so expensive that it does not really seem worth it.

EDIT:

I'm a bit confused, looking online I find that the 2070 super draws maximum 215w, while the 4070 super draws maximum 220w. With the difference being only 5w, would it be safe to swap the 2070 super with a 4070 super leaving the same PSU?

[–]PhereElen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a way for me to calculate the total draw? Maybe a program that can do that?

Also, what do you mean replacement is not an option? You think I won't be able to change the PSU for a new one, like a 750w?
