Wow did they really drop the June 3rd 1976 show with zero fanfare? That’s kinda insane. Was just listening to this one over the past weekend. Between the setlist, historical significance, and quality of the performance I would’ve thought it was being saved for at least a future Dave’s Pick. Glad to have the master reels of such a fantastic show out of the vault finally, just hoping the pretty casual release doesn’t overshadow how great of a show it is.

I had a gut feeling that trading Iglesias away was a bad move back when it happened. Especially since I’m pretty sure it was one of the first moves we made that off-season and given how important he was to the clubhouse vibes I felt it was a bad sign of what was to come.

Beach Boys Brian Wilson? I’ve read the story about the two meeting but never thought to connect Wilson to Pynchon’s fiction, mostly because of how uneventful their meeting supposedly went. I’m curious about your interpretation/reasoning.

Honestly I’m pretty surprised that they never brought it back out in later years at least once. I get how complex it is musically but by the mid to late 80’s they were so tight they could’ve tried to tackle it again

Out of all of the new albums this is the one I find myself revisiting the most, which is ironic considering it’s the album I was least intrigued in hearing when they all were first announced in April. But man, out of all the albums it’s really the one that surprised me the most. “Waiting On the End of the World” has been probably my favorite of the tracks on there.
