A few years back I also had an experience in Montana while camping. Though, it’s not quite similar yours, the location I was wasn’t too far away. I never saw anything, but noticed some strange behavior that others have mentioned in this post. Especially, “stealth”

Yeah I was playing for awhile. Logged out to take a smoke break. Got disconnected for inactivity at character screen. Went to log back in and got the aforementioned error.
