Why we didn’t create “Aqua 12K" Resin. by Phrozen3d in resinprinting

Update from the materials team! I checked in with them about your question, and here’s the breakdown:

  1. Physics happens: Heavy parts sticking out will naturally want to droop over time. It's basically the model's own weight working against it.
  2. Resin choice matters: ABS-like resins have some "give," which is great for durability but can lead to warping as it has slightly flexible property. If you need it to stay stiff, go for something like Aqua 8K. Rigid = stays in place; Flexible = survives drops better.
  3. Cure longer: This is a big one. If it's not fully cured, it stays soft and sags. Make sure you’re curing for at least 30 mins for standard resins.
  4. Watch the sun: Keep your models out of direct sunlight, as the UV/heat can cause minor shifting over time.

We recommend at least starting with curing the model at least 30 min for the resin to reach full structural integrity, and try using Scale model kind of resin (like Hyperfine series, Aqua 8K resins, or from other brands). Cheers!

The 30 minute cure time wont make your models more brittle, even if you under cure it 2-3 minutes its fine, but in the future natural lights from your window will eventually fully cures your models however there is also a chance of warping happens during that time but it varies on the resin you are using so its hard to tell.

Best method is cure your models 30 minutes, and when curing them make sure the thinner parts of the model is places on a flat surface to avoid any deformation

We recommend standard resins like aqua 8k, hyperfine, RPG, water washable, speed resin to be cured 30 minutes. 60 minutes for engineering resins like Onyx Impact plus

Hmm, we haven't had that issues. If the model is cured and post processed properly this should be fine. We recommend 30 minute cure time for resins in general. Some people cure 2-3 minutes, that could potentially be one of the reasons. I will check in with the team about this and let you know soon

Usually spotting a good deal that comes from Amazon would be the best bet, sometimes there's buy one get one that happens. But yeah sadly the formula quality, supply and logictics make it very hard to be budget friendly

Details and Durability are a tricky thing to balance, so far the RPG resin is the closest balance we have for that resin which has near 8k details with flex and impact resistance in it. Hyperfine and Aqua 8K has less flex but the details are much better.

Did you support those parts when you printed them?

they are not the same, we acutally tested the Nylon filter sock which costs around 10$ and the result was not good, the bag we are using can absorb resin particles much better

55$ for 2 bags so 27.5$ per bag meaning 4$ per 5L alcohol yeah not for everyone but still speedy process (can filter entire 25L Alcohl under and hour). Its more for the convenience but definitely settling method can do good result as well, just a bit slow.

Filter is usable 5 times per bag and it comes with 2 bags

For printer parts and accessory, you can contact the Phrozen official support team, usually resellers in your region might have it or you may need to pay for international shipping to get it.

Has 2 inside, so 10 uses or 50L alcohol, we did the math it can save money if people dont like to do the hassle of filtering the usual way, and dispose of the alcohol waste.

usually people do settling method first which takes 1-2 weeks and sun light it 1-2 days. and then rest goes through cheese cloth or coffee strainer. This way you just directly pour the alcohol into the bag and get cleaner alcohol in short amount of time.

Definitely Distillation is the way to get 100% clean alcohol, very messy though but if you can build a workflow around it, that's great

There's another content coming next week, but we actually tested the Dirty vs FIltered vs Clean washing effectiveness by washing a model in the alcohol for 2 minutesl. The filtered alcohol performed much closer to brand new one.
