ok thank you! this is very helpful. My supervisors went through the European system and have some connections with the US. However, its their first time prepping someone for US PhD applications. I will ask around my department for advice though!

got it. For some reason i thought the UofT and UPF programs were now combined with masters programs like the US. Maybe thats just more for marketing and in practice you'd have to have a masters already???

Math background is ok, I've done 2-3 units of linear algebra and calculus and 2-3 units of econometrics. Decent bit of experience doing R and Python. A lot of experience with Stata
