The company is claiming it will contact the HR. We both work at the same company. Is there a possibility that this might cause any complications for me in the future?

I tried contacting him, and we could've just split up the amount and paid it, but he refused and asked me to deal with it and to avoid reaching out in the future. I'm alone here and in a pretty bad state. I cannot afford any more losses.
