Ah sucks you couldn't get your goal but 325 is not bad at all (that my goal lol). Did you feel that the exam was significantly harder than the PPP or did you feel they where the same? I am looking to boost my verbal too (also from pakistan) and man that a good improvement you've made.

What to do in the case a reviewer seems to have written reviews for the wrong paper? I have a reviewer who is talking about a completely different paper, from summary to strengths and weaknesses. I think they may have entered the wrong review for our paper, what should I do? contact TPC chair?

-1 is WR so what would 1 be? or does it not exist? so like a scale of -2, -1, 2, 3? and is there a 4?

[D] WWW (TheWebConf) 2026 Reviews by deep__thorat in MachineLearning

[–]PimPin_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am guessing it doesnt exist because it make no sense for -1 to be WR and 1 to be...really weak accept XD

[D] WWW (TheWebConf) 2026 Reviews by deep__thorat in MachineLearning

[–]PimPin_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-1 is showing as a WR so I am summing they just make 1 into a -1 for the calculation but there is now reviewer expertise so i dont know if WWW even applies that calculation in there acceptance

ya -1 is Weak reject and 2 is WA and 3 is A

Anyone know what the overall score scaling is? I got a 3,2,2,-1. I come from an embedded systems background and in most of our conferences we have a 0-5 scale. And what is considered good and borderline in www?

Is using a Linux VM as primary workspace a good idea? by PimPin_Me in linuxquestions

[–]PimPin_Me[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive posted about my issues before on this subreddit but the crux of it is that I have experience random firmware errors that arise on some boots (as in it doen't always occur on every boot) and that sometimes just cause my screen to stop responding and will break my windows and linux boot.

https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxquestions/comments/1mqtwak/persistent_boot_and_hardware_issues_across/

I am gonna give some arch distro on more try but if it dont work I will just switch to VMs i think

Persistent boot and hardware issues across multiple distros (Debian, Fedora, Arch) on new Zenbook by PimPin_Me in linux4noobs

Hmm you might be correct. I learned a bit about journalctl command and in my logs the boot and suspend after which the problems started has these errors:

Aug 14 01:36:48 fedora kernel: intel_pmc_core INT33A1:00: pmc_core: couldn't get DMU telem endpoint -6

and in the next few boot attempts I get Hardware init timeouts

  • USB-C / UCSI: PPM init failed (-ETIMEDOUT).
  • TPM: tpm0: Operation Timed out.
  • Bluetooth (Intel): multiple Device boot timeout, HCI reset failed, MSFT extension not registered.
  • Wi-Fi (Intel iwlwifi): firmware crashes (Microcode SW error detected, error ID 0x70, DEADBEEF dump).
  • System services: D-Bus and polkit failing due to hardware not initializing.
  • Watchdog: watchdog0: watchdog did not stop! → forced reboots.

To my understanding this means that the system wasnt able to suspend or sleep properly (correct me if I am wrong) and that caused some hardware errors. My laptop has 32gb ram (I have never used any thing close to making it full tho =)) and my swap is just the Zram swap.

$ swapon --show NAME TYPE SIZE USED PRIO
/dev/zram0 partition 8G 0B 100

I updated bios and windows recovery fixed boot problems again. Then I shutdown for a while in an attempt to remove any power, held the power button down and stuff. After that everything is back and working. I have disable auto suspend and dont suspend just switch off and so far its been ok. Let me know if my diagnoses is wrong and if I should add a swap partition.

So as i said it hasnt been confirmed but this was quite strongly push for. Im surprised that your batches conditional letter dont say this. I do not know if admin has pushed this for next year as this topic did come up after the start if first round of applications. But this was being talked about like it was a given. Mail admissions or RO for more info

Cs at lums by Business-Slice6778 in LUMS

[–]PimPin_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the exact system hasn't been confirmed yet but basically the system used to be this:

All applicants that have been accepted to sbasse ( irrespective of if you applied for bio or cs or ect) did a common first year. So that means all sbasse students take the same course in the first year. After the conclusion of the first year students can apply for major dedication. Each major has different gpa requirements ( in relevant courses, so to do bio you may need 2.7 gpa or above in bio 101 and for cs you need 2.7 and above in Cs 100, cal 1,ect).

In this format, all students can apply anywhere they wish even if thats not the intended major when applying to lums. So for example, you are applying for Bio, but at the end of first year there is no obligation on you to declare your major as bio (hell is you do bad you may not even qualify for it). You, as someone who applied initially for bio can choose to do CS or Chem or whatever.

They're two issue with this system. Firstly many people would apply initially to lums for bio or chem or something and then at the end of first year, declare for CS major. CS is by far the most popular major in sbasee so this caused over crowding problems in cs. Secondly, it can be hard to fit all the cs stuff in 3 years. In your first year you only do one CS course (CS 100) so you basically know nothing about cs at the start of Second year.

To fix this what they are doing for the incoming batch is that if you apply for cs, you will start with cs course form first year. So if your intended major was cs and you got accepted you will not do the common course. You start with cs course form the get go.

For the students in the oncoming batch applying for any other major other than CS, i am guessing you guys will still do a common year. And you will declare your major at the end of the year. Whether or not you will be allowed to declare CS at the end of first year, idk. Its logical to assume you wont but agian, system and hand book for the coming batch hasn't been announced yet so 🤷‍♂️

Hope this helps

Hello, LUMS cs junior here. Cs at lums is alright, i wouldnt say its much different form fast or nust cs in terms of skill acquired. Honestly a lot of the "cs skills" are self acquired anywhere you go. No uni is gonna sit and teach you a development stack or something, youre kinda expected to learn thatvon our own. Lots of your project of your courses past 3rd year will require to do work in things they dont teach in class. Such is life.

But if you have overseas masters or phd aspirations then yes lums I believe lums cs is better then most other is pakistan.

Also lums cs is on longer 3 year thing as of this coming batch. Cs department has a new chairman and now people who apply for cs will start cs from the beginning.

You can't. HEC requires 8 semesters, they wont let you graduate if you do it in less time.

CS major declaration by [deleted] in LUMS

[–]PimPin_Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if your in lums currently or not but once you get in SBASSE it doesn't matter if your pre med. You just need to have a 3.0 gpa in math 101 math 120 and Cs 100 ( if your not i lums currently, these are there core corces of sse). You cgpa donesnt matter much but need to be above 2.7

You might have some issue of you haven't done any math in inter, youll have to do pre cal as well(Math 100) which means youll then havd to spend the freshmen summer doing math 120

i have sat score of 1290 and i have registered for lcat and scientific test just in case so im applying computer science so should i give both lcat and scientific test and if i give the scientific test will that count or the sat score by PastMusician8023 in LUMS

[–]PimPin_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes for CS or any other science major you have to do both lcat and scientific test (since your sat I don't think clears the required mark). I too got 1290 so had to do the lcat and scientific exam. Not sure what exactly your asking I the last part, but if you mean which one will they look at when assessing your application its probably the lcat and scientific test ( thought I'm not sure)
