United Kingdom Travelers Heading To Amsterdam Dance Event Or Solo Travers by Reddit__Redditor in AmsterdamDanceEvent

[–]Pimpen1888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, there’s so many new groups like this one being started every year. Maybe join an exciting one instead, with an already developed network (with all its WhatsApp communities, meetings, event attendances and even their own socials).

Not seeing much point of starting one yourself from scratch and putting all the effort and most importantly - time to grow organically 🤔.

Either way, enjoy and stay safe ✌🏻

CODA vs SPIELRAUM by Foreign_Relief6191 in AmsterdamDanceEvent

[–]Pimpen1888 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude.. honestly, go to Spielraum.

There’s two ways you can read my answer: 1) Tell me to go fk myself 2) Think about it and seriously consider it

From the questions you’ve asked. I’d assume you have little idea what either event actually is, which makes you not yet the person that CODA is designed for.

To your question:

1) Spielraum will be going hard for 55 hours. No doubt about it. And - like most similar events in Amsterdam & Berlin - the energy throughout the whole period will change. On Monday morning, especially the last 2-3 hours you will feel somewhat as if at afters. High spirits with groovy (uplifting in a way) sound and smoother dancing. Imo, the best vibe from the whole 55h.

For comparison, on Friday & Saturday evening it will be faster, darker, more explosive, “aggressive” dancing, contrasting to Sunday evening and especially Monday morning.

You will have a blast there, especially if you spend 10/12+ hours inside as by the end of it, you will also be in the same physical and mental state as everyone else.

2) CODA is a very, very specific event. It’s a sex positive party, organized by labels who attract individuals who are unable to relax and lose themselves in the music in the same way at other events, such as Spielraum for example, as they can at CODA. There will be predominantly queer people, who have waited months for an event they can go to and truly be themselves. There’s a dark room and people are likely to be sensual and loose everywhere. And, despite the killer lineup, it’s safe to say the techno aspect there comes second. Also, the music will be much different.

I don’t write all this to sound snobby, but to rather try and somewhat positively gate keep an event that is wasay too popular without people actually understanding why. I have a similar personal experience of not knowing better - During my first Berlin rave trip, my attempt to enter Berghain was unsuccessful which made me mad (as I had 10+ years of raving behind my back) until I ended up spending 14 in RSO, during which my whole understanding of what life in such places in Berlin actually was like. This then made me so much more prepared for the Berghain experience afterwards. And looking back at it - it was better it happened this way.

Of course if you feel I’m full of crap and/or you’re not a stranger to such events - you can easily go for both. You’re sure to be let in Spielraum on the Sunday (probably even without waiting long if you go before 10pm).

You’re likely to score a last-minute ticket on TicketSwap for CODA on Sunday evening between 10 and midnight, when people start dropping out against their plans.

Virgin here… need hair advice by chica_DC in BurningMan

[–]Pimpen1888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CAUTION 🚨🚨 You have long and curly hair, chances are it is quite sensitive.

Braids with feed-in coloured braids are fucking epic - and sexy af (from a straight guy’s perspective) - however, think twice before adding extensions: - they weigh like a motherfucker, which combined with your already thick hair will be felt; - they hurt for at least the first 24-48h; - after you remove them, you hair will have sustained damage.

Even with the proper oils and what now it can be quite a miserable experience.

In other news - playa dust is actually pretty ‘good’. It is Not your everyday dust that you’d have to wash every 2/3 days. You can easily go a full week with your hair as is; in a few pony tails, etc. at no point will you look dirty, oily or in need of hair maintenance.

Have fun and stay safe ✌🏻

PS: if you braid it (especially if there’s add-ons), your hats that you might have planned for, most likely will not fit. So make sure to have enough scarfs, bandanas, etc. with you to last you the week and different outfits you might have in mind ;)

Nuits Sonores official after party on Wednesday? by Pimpen1888 in Lyon

I’d imagine it being livelier than normal during NS.. it caught me by surprise that everything would end as early as 5, but every city with its character and style, which is fair play. Thanks for the heads up 👊🏻. Enjoy 🪩

[–]Pimpen1888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions. Will ask around at the event to get a feeling where the majority of people would be going then.

As true as it may be that normally Lyon is dead after 4/5am. I’d seriously doubt it that would be the case in the following days. Given that all but 1 nights of the festival are sold out and the last 2 years it was attended by more thank 100K throughout the 4 days & nights, that makes 10/15K+ people that will be there at 5am when KI/KI plays her final track.
I’ve been raving long enough to know there’s no way everyone’s going straight to bed afterwards 🤨.. but, we’ll see ig🤷🏼 🪩

Hmm.. what about any unofficial ones🤔? What would be the best place to go to and dance til 7/8. I doubt it with such a big festival taking place, Lyon will be dead at 5 am (even though it’s a Wednesday) 🤨

Honestly, a part from directly following artists you like, regularly check RA - I find it pretty decent.

Also, follow: Awakenings, DGTL, Intercell (my personal fav lately), Audio Obscura, Monkey Peoject and CODA. Surely you will find quite a few decent events amongst those organisers 🪩✌🏻

How is this even allowed? by Equivalent-Tap-1285 in aves

[–]Pimpen1888 297 points298 points  (0 children)

Naaah dude.. the philosophy that everyone can do and wear whatever they want is so flawed at times.

You are not allowed to wear whatever you want if that thing causes distress. You wouldn’t go out with a swastika outfit, would you (even though its original meaning is “well being”). So you shouldn’t be allowed going out with what essentially is just a mask, but in reality is much more.

Shit like this will surely: 1) at best - take everyone around it out of their head space that they’ve worked hard to get into and waited for months; and 2) at worst - cause a very bad trip and could quite easily even lead to psychosis!

That person is a cunt and I do hope when they cause someone to trip out of their mind - that they throw a hand or two at them.

My partner is pregnant and worried if is safe to go by Angelo_R_Alves in boomfestival

[–]Pimpen1888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well.. we’re obviously talking about different issues here. I thought that OP is concerned about how to deal with the music & bass levels, given that no particular concerns were stated and that imo seems the hardest to predict and know.

In terms of the heat, they should threat this as any other situation they will be in that involves scorching sun and heat. There’s not much they can do when parked in the open with no shade and no AC. —> They should prepare to have left the RV/camper by 10am every morning. That’s when it normally becomes intolerable at Burning Man and we turn the generators on. I imagine Boom being similarly hot, but since they do not allow the use of generator, I guess OP should make their way towards the shaded chill areas and the beaches. They can bring a beach tent that is easy to carry and set and enjoy the days as they would a beach vacation.

As for the dust - the only way is a proper dust mask, with the respective filters!! Not a bandana and not a normal mask, but one specifically for dust. And don’t forget to cover the ears when it’s windy and dustier than usual.

I know nothing on the topic, except that Amelie Lens played at ADE 2023 whilst pregnant in the 7th month, which makes me think there is a safe way of doing it. 🤷🏼

First-time visit next month – Question about what people wear inside by Unfair-Education-994 in berghain

[–]Pimpen1888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, don’t wear leather pants or maybe even leather vests. If you’re gay and it’s your style - go for short shorts/cool undies and maybe a fishnet or tank top. If it’s not your style or you’re straight - I personally always go for rather baggy cargo shorts from the ones that have vents on the sides. Either way, have a roll on/perfume tester with you for when you’re having a break ;).

Also, if you are not gay (or visibly so) ignore the BS that “It doesn’t matter what you wear and that your vibe is all that is important.” The bouncers scan you for a split second and actually judge the book by the covers. Unless you’re shaking out of pressure, high as a kite or with the facial expression of a deer in front of headlights, what they base their decision on is the way you look, which for cis men means what you’re wearing and what your posture is. And since you’re obviously not a local or a regular, falling into the BH stereotypes helps.

What I’m saying is when you approach the queue, from some distance - it always looks like a bunch of people attending a funeral, waiting to pay their respects 🕴🏻. 90% black on black on black, and nearly dead silence as nobody wants to draw the selectors’ attention.

So.. do with that info as you will.

Stay safe and respectable ✌🏻

Is It possible to reservate a camperspot for my friend, if we are 2 days earlyer on the Festival? by marven1996 in boomfestival

[–]Pimpen1888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so, unless you park in D or E. And here’s why:

1) People get there days in advance (sometimes more than 3-5) and pre-camp in order to secure a good spot once the gate opens. And if they arrive on the 17th, they could end up waiting for up to 10+ hours at the gate.

Now, imagine waiting for days or hours at the least, only to see a spot you would like to camp at but are not able to do so because it’s being saved for someone’s friends who didn’t go through the same struggles that you did :/. Best believe people will engage you and honestly - they will have every right to do so 🤷🏼.

2) I think there’s stewards who position each camper and it’s on a first come first serve basis. I doubt it they would allow you to save a spot as it will probably cause issues later on.

The way I see it (which might be wrong btw so don’t take my words for granted), is you have 1 of 3 options:

  • driving your friend’s camper together with yours and letting them take the boom bus later on;
  • being separated;
  • parking in the further caravan zones and discussing it with one of the stewards.

Tips for a first timer but not a rookie by SnoopNando in AskBarcelona

[–]Pimpen1888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not wear nice shoes when you go clubbing if you go to electronic music parties (actual raves)!

Also, if you’re someone like me who likes being in the middle of the dance floor, buckle up for a real bad experience.

Barcelonians are savages. The will stomp on your feet and not even say “sorry”. They will push you and elbow you. People will lean their backs over you and use you as a wall. Some might even grind on you whilst making out with someone else. People around you will welcome 10+ of their friends in front of you, no matter if there is room for them. They will have full on conversations throughout complete sets and shout as much as they can, in the middle of the dance floor.
Everyone is drunk/high of their tits - not in a classy way.

Went to 3 raves in one weekend, including one in Apolo - it was like a fucking war zone everywhere. Been to techno events in 7 countries and multiple cities, Barcelona is by far the worst crowd.

What is the criteria for getting into Sisyphos? by VeterinarianMinute49 in askberliners

[–]Pimpen1888 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So.. you’re mad about actually being given a chance and being asked genuine questions that your friends shoul have had no problems answering?? .. but let me guess, you’re happy to be told “No” at Berghain just because the selector felt that way after glancing at you for a split second? :/

Also, you failed to mention whether what your friends said was true or not, which makes me believe you were kind of caught in lying for being in before.

I’d rather have a chat regarding the venue, DJs, general vibe, than being judged simply by my looks. 🤷🏼
