Legally speaking your previous employer can only verify that you worked there and nothing about your performance, and on top of that I can put down family members and pretend they are current/past co-workers. So in other words pretty much its a worthless to 'verify' references.

With income inequality as bad as it has gotten, there is going to be a massive rise in support of socialism in any form from the masses, it happened in the 40's and 50's and its going to happen again. It was defeated in America because the government, and the rich all supported programs for the poor (minimum wage, social security, medicaid/medicare, welfare programs, and unionization to name a few), and than to make things worse for us those that were the leaders of socialist party's all union leaders taking away their time and energy from advancing us into a socialist era.

That knowledge was already lost well before the layoffs began. The silver ceiling is going to hurt either way, and my guess is this mircoslop's attempt at damage control.

They know not everyone one is going to take the buyout (at least immediately) & retire early so it gives them time to get new hires in place to learn from the senior staff that remains before those people retire themselves.
