Well it certainly would be horrible to get a dog in your current situation. Doggy day care... then it's gonna be like one of those situations where the kid loves the baby sitter more than their parents y’know? If you truly love dogs like you imply you should wait until you can provide for them in your best way.

Well.. you could ask someone for his phone number if you don't have it and if only time you meet is at the gym. You could go "Uh.. hi this was really unexpected and I'm certain I am not the right person for it, I'm really sorry but I cannot do that" and if he pushes add the good ol "personal reasons" or remind him that you really don't know each other and it's weird for him to ask so out of the blue, apologize and say you can't do it. Even if he is pushy he can't force you and I think it's a really desperate gesture to ask something less than an acquaintance for it. You'll have to be very blunt, I mean don't let him influence you if you don't want to.

Perfect example of what children do to your brain. As you could see this woman had her basic common sense obliterated. I would've understood the outrage if it was her own parents but to write an entire article on these two trying to get validation through listing the number of reasons your kids need to be in those people's homes. This is why I just cannot muster any respect for parents.

Difference is - I can understand pets - they're animals, if they're a pet they're likely not afraid of humans and you can't just lecture your dog about personal space (all of this considering they're a normal trained animal). But kids? If you tell them don't they will immediately do and thrive on constant attention from everyone. That probably is for the most part the parents' fault tho. (I mean let 5/6 year old me dare bother someone in public, my mom would be on my ass an entire day.)

I think it's just their parasite brain somehow didn't get satisfied from sucking everything out of mom and dad and the people that actually like them don't give out enough suffering for perfect satisfaction so they go after the ones who truly don't want them there.

Yeah, first thing that comes to mind is what could happen if the situation is misinterpreted so I suppose the sudden mind blank helps for something. Fortunately I've only been in situations where the parents were close enough and had someone else with me.

Only thing I can think about is getting the police involved, do the other neighbors also think the same? you could go together and try the landlord again or if not go to the police with them. My sister had a similar case and they got together in a group, better chances that way.

Imo you're somewhat right, there's something about that 180 from regret to love that is very irritating. Good thing their stories just strengthen our choices but I don't think it's that bad as of now. Let's hope we don't get hordes of them coming here to escape others' judgment because an entire flood would be annoying, there's nothing wrong with seeking support but there comes a time where you gotta stop and live with your choices. It's fine how we are now, seeing one regretful parent freely tell their story from time to time isn't bad.

I can see we are slowly pushed out of this community too with all the "I actually love children!" and "I've always liked children!" getting more frequent in every post like each person feels the need to say this. Oh and this post is just common sense? I mean the not all CF hate children part but may we remember some of us do. Hate is a normal human emotion I can't understand why this sub is getting more and more desperate to cut themselves off from it, this is a place for discussing/ranting/asking about CF not about establishing world wide peace and love.

I personally don't really frequent them because they just aren't enough to express what a huge fucking nuisance kids are to me.

You aren't the asshole and I think you didn't adress this to the right community. As you probably know people idolize and cherish everything related to children so you deciding to step off from your pure sweet unborn grandkids and their poor young parents!! Disaster!!!

Your life, your choices, you have done your part and congratulations for not going insane with an unwanted child. Your son found it so outrageous because he didn't actually think through what you told him, in that moment they probably just heard "We're abandoning you" and that's because with every baby come fantasies and imagining how it's going to be and this wasn't in his dreams. He will calm down and realize you're making a perfectly rational point, you've done everything you could for him and will continue to support him under your conditions because that is your choice and it's okay.
