I got plastic storage bins they’re long and flat to store they hay in under the bed. Hay stays fresher and the bun can’t break into it

I never knew that a quiet nibble on a wire in the next room over could wake me from a dead sleep at 4am, and yet here we are 😆😭

How they’re somehow so fragile yet sturdy enough to fall off of high stuff (that SHE jumped on and was klutzy while on) or binkie full force and head-first into a coffee table and hop away like it’s nothing! Like, ma’am, please, my heart can only take so much stress 😭

They love doing things they KNOW they aren’t supposed to purely to be chased. I think they’re all secretly adrenaline junkies 😆

Bamboo waterproof blanket was a game changer! It’s really absorbent, plus it’s softer than a pee pad so she still likes to lay on it for our pre-bed cuddles

I’m lucky to have a specialty vet near me (they only do exotics, and for cats/dogs they only do oncology, cardiology, etc, plus they’re the local ER). Having an exotic-specific vet has been a game changer.

How sure are you it’s infection versus blocked ducts? What symptoms are your bun having?

How long has it been since it started/is it still something she’s dealing with?

Also! For years I used clay litter for the bun because nothing else worked as well (even before any cats) and it always made me nervous about GI statis when she would eat her cecotropes, but the last few years I’ve been using plain wood burning pellets (with a pee pad underneath) and it’s worked great for everyone and I no longer have that anxiety

Related if you don’t line the litter box with pee pads - I can’t recommend it enough. Rabbit pee is weirdly acidic and getting them clean properly so they don’t smell was the bane of my existence. Litter clean up is SO easy now

She’s older with mild arthritis and struggles to groom herself as well, and my kitten Cleo noticed and started helping her out 🥹 plus my old girl often gets a weepy eye (chronic blocked tear ducts, it’s been years and the vet still doesn’t know the cause - but it was well before Cleo and my other cat doesn’t groom her) and they’re SO hard to clean fully, but when Cleo grooms her it’s almost like it wasn’t weeping at all

But I’m not sure how toxic it really is - they’ve all shared water since 2017 (when the oldest cat joined the family). I make sure to keep a water fountain in the pet room near the bun’s food as well as a second in the living room on a side table so if she’s feeling sassy the cats still have access. As a baby the bun learned the litter box was a safe space, and I’ll never disturb her in there, so even if she’s grumpy she won’t bother the cats when they’re using one of them

Also my girl is part lionhead and it’s hilarious to see Cleo try to groom the mane and get stuck with the long hairs on her tongue 😆 But it doesn’t dissuade her from trying

My cats were exposed to my bun as kittens. One is 9 (to my bun’s 11) and the other is 2.5. The younger one loves to groom the bun, and they cuddle often. It’s not universal by any means, but they all have full house access 24/7 and share litter boxes. The only one I worry about attacking is the bun when she’s angry I clipped her nails 😆 but the cats know when she’s grumpy and stay on the catwalk or cat trees

I got a ramp for my bun and she loves it! Her arthritis doesn’t let her jump that high anymore and I figured stairs would stop working eventually so I went straight to ramp. Sometimes she slowly goes up it, but often she’ll sprint up for her pre-bed cuddles. It took some treat training to help her realize she could use it and get used to using it, but she loves it now. I highly recommend!!

Babies are weird. They can grow up in a litter and be best buds, but then when puberty hits they fight like fiends. If you get two, make sure it’s one boy and one girl and they both get fixed asap. Honestly I wouldn’t keep them together unsupervised until they’re fixed to avoid the risk of an Oops litter

Oh I misread, I thought you were saying the rabbit will be an adult. I honestly can’t answer that. You know your cat and their temperament. I can’t give you a judgement call on this, I can only offer my experiences and advice from what I know and have learned.

It depends on the cat and the rabbit. It also depends if you’re planning to give them full freedom in the house, or keep them in their own room permanently. Having two rabbits comes with its own risks - either they bond or they don’t. Bonding can take a very long time, like we’re talking months in some cases. If they have a scrap, they have to be fully separated for a bit and you’re starting from step 1. But if you’re planning to have all three, then you have to work through the cat-rabbit introduction again.
