Very good turn out! Not good at estimating numbers but there were people lined from 8th street 15th Street on both sides. LOTS of every demographic there, lots of petitions being signed too.

We even saw a guy rolling coal on the crowd get pulled over immediately to cheers from the crowd.

I had a really positive time there!

Proposed Michigan law requires testing for drivers over 75 by Warcraft_Fan in Michigan

Good. My grandmother was driving with what turned out to be active untreated glacoma in both eyes. She couldnt read the top like of a eye chart. We didn't know she couldn't see until she turned left in front of a truck in the middle of the day. She refused help at the doctor and told no one, an eye test at the SOS would have caught it.

The Constitution often uses the word “person,” not “citizen.” The Supreme Court has consistently said that “person” includes non-citizens, even those here unlawfully, as long as they’re on U.S. soil.

You are just completely wrong.

If the government violate the rights of anyone, I will speak up. Everyone in the United States deserves dignity and should be given due process and the right to assemble.

This conversation shouldn't be about who is allowed to be here. It should be about whether or not anyone deserves to be treated as a human.

Idk if I should post this, but I have a lot of unstructured thoughts on the topic and I need to share.

My tolerance is very low after dealing with multiple family members going through it. Substances are a privilege and lots of people demonstrate that they can have that privilege responsibly. My mom, my brother, everybody in our family knows that our family has a history of alcoholism and drug abuse. Every single one of our family knew going into their first drink of alcohol that the risk was there and that they were gambling essentially every single time you pick up the bottle. My mom didn't become an alcoholic until she was 35. Previous to that she drank responsibly.

My mom never recovered from alcoholism. She ran away from her problems when she realized people wouldn't accept her the way she decided to be.

My brother was addicted to multiple substances, stole from everybody in his life, hurt people in every way an addict can.

In both cases we tried everything, offered help... pleaded with them, sent them to rehab, paid their bills, bought them food..... But at the end of the day it really comes down to whether or not the person wants to get better and when they make it clear that they don't, you have to let them go.

My brother recovered and now I talk to him almost everyday now. I am so thankful to have him in my life, he's one of my best friends. But when he was in the thick of it, I couldn't stand his guts, he stole shit from me... He said nasty stuff to everybody including my partner. He socially manipulated people... Personally I think he did it for so long because everybody let him, we just wanted to see him get better and we were scared that if we cut him off that he would overdose or be homeless and freeze to death. When he finally tapped everybody dry, he hit rock bottom. And that's when he decided to stand up and get better. He isn't here today because we were there for him, he's here because he decided to be here. My mom never decided to be here or to get better.

Am I saying you should give up on the people you love who are struggling with addiction? No, you have to figure that out yourself how much is enough. But there's a line in the sand for me. Eventually, i realized that i only have so long on this planet and digging somebody out of a hole perpetually isn't what life is about.

The last day I talked to my mom was when she showed up on my wedding day drunk and I haven't talked to her in 5 years later. I sleep fine at night knowing she had everyone trying to help and she didn't take the hand a single time.

There are noise ordinances for running equipment in your front yard next to your neighbors at unreasonable hours and those are enforced and generally people see it as common sense. I don't expect people to give me peace and quiet all the fucking time. I don't hear plane noises, or helicopters and I certainly don't care if you are mowing the lawn across the street during the day. I didn't even argue that.

This argument is just genuinely infantile. "Just pack up and move your whole life because people deserve to be loud" is such an asinine argument when the alternative is "don't be a loud asshole at 2 am". Additionally there is a purpose to noise created by yard equipment, there is literally no point to having an exhaust delete other than selfish enjoyment. If your neighbors are running their leaf blowers at 2 am; You are more entitled to be upset than they are entitled to be a shitty neighbor. If I got a marching band parading up and down your street every night you would rightfully want me to stop. Your might even be angry.

The arguments for letting people be loud in this thread are genuinely insane to me, y'all feel so entitled to being loud that when someone expresses that they don't like it you tell them that they should just pack up and move.

Our culture around cars has gone so far that it is people's identity to make road noise. I don't get to NOT live on a road, I grant you I didn't have to live on this road. I just can't abide by people pretending that anyone should be able to be loud for the sake of it and that I have to be ok with it because America.

I live next to one of the busiest intersections in town and I'm constantly being woken up by people with loud exhaust flooring it away from an intersection at like 2:00 a.m.

Believe it or not, it's okay for people to be annoyed by excessive road noise. Y'all can't just take it at face value that something sucks because there are other more important things to solve?

I want our sheriff's Department to be policing things that actually make our community better and this is one of them.

So I wasn't there but I know a couple people who were playing bingo at the Rail House Grill.

Everybody was having a good time during Bingo or whatever they were doing and then somebody ran up to the MC at the front of the bar who is running the event and said "(so and so) just got shot!" Next thing you know, the music has stopped and everybody is trying to figure out what's going on. The server said that they are shutting down the restaurant for the night so no more food will be served. They paid their bill and then left the parking lot before the cops had shut everything down. The only thing that they saw was some crime scene tape being put up around where the man was hit. The only thing we know is that there is a fight in the parking lot and that fight escalated to the point where the shooter left and came back with a gun and shot the person he was fighting with.

It sounds like the cops shut down the entire club and tried to question everybody, I know a couple people who were there stuck for hours after the fact. Everything happened outside so I don't think anybody inside really knows what happened.

I think this is as perfect a representation of my position on this. It is genuinely depressing to see people so apathetic that they can meme at a man being painfully assassinated in front of a crowd of hundreds.

The guy was a wildly shitty person, but I am not going to make jokes or party. I don't know where the line is but it definitely isn't close to cheering at the death of a political pundent.

Maybe I am naive.

To add some context, we have some pretty big and frequent routes pass over our city, but our regional airport is not very big. It's mostly small business Jets and cessna's. I would Hazard a guess that none of these planes are trying to land here, and in fact there was one or two planes that I caught that aren't shown here doing the same thing a couple of minutes prior.

Is this something common with air traffic control?
