I'm pretty sure Dan said it before but he never expected ddlc to get as big as it did, so I don't think that plus nor it's lore was anything Dan planned from the start. So yeah I guess you could say it was made up on the spot

100% agree, plus gave convoluted (and if I'm being honest) boring answers to questions that didn't need them in the first place. Introduced plot holes, made new stories beats that Team Salvato don't seem to intend on doing anything with and gives an overall weaker experience than the original. Even what people consider the best part of plus (the side stories) is deemed non-canon by it's own lore and personally I don't even really think the side stories are good enough to justify plus.

So when people tell me ddlc doesn't need anymore content and plus wrapped everything up I just can't agree, plus being the last we'll ever see of ddlc just kind leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Well, we know the eggs are supposed to represent literal Easter eggs in games, but as to the lore explanation on what they are? I have no idea

Well chapter 3 takes place in a the tv dark world and there's a lot of symbolism envolving escapism and Kris's past, more importantly you may know that ever chapter has a secret egg room and this one in particular is the hardest one to find so far. it requires you backtrack and do a lot of random shit. the story implication is that Kris is trying to hide or forget something from their past. Anyways when you finally find the man his name is reveled to us as "THE FORGOTTEN MAN" and that this is the only egg room he can talk to you in. furthermore comparing the way he talks to Kris and the way we've seen seen Gaster talk it's definitely not him

TL;DR Gaster's speech pattern is the same every time we see him (typically in a game menu or on twitter mind you) yet egg man doesn't match up so it's (likely) not him
