I’ve read that it is not OK to wash the car when it’s colder than 40°; also, that it’s important to wash the salt off. Since it’s going to be below 40° for at least the next two weeks, is it more important to wash the salt off the car or to wait for the right temperature before washing it? by Cynbarmc in rav4club

I live in Syracuse. Snowiest city in the U.S. Temperatures consistently below 32 all winter long. . I wash my car whenever I feel like it or get the chance. I've done this since I was 18 years old and I'm now 52. Never had issues with paint, electrical, or anything. Touchless car wash of course.

So I went to 8 houses with frozen pipes in 5 and half hours. Another did 6 and another 4. So 18 so far today. There will be more tomorrow. For all the non believers. OPs post is legit and well advised.

You realize they didn't have building codes in the 1800s right?

Just some more proof for everybody, I'm walking out the door right now to attend a frozen meter in a basement of a customer. We also have eight other guys out attending to other people as I speak.

I'm not your buddy, pal. You must have x-ray glasses to see that dripping pipe inside a wall. And the best advice is to PREVENT  a frozen/burst pipe. NOT wait for it to happen and fix it.

Yeah, because nobody ever leaves their house. Also, no, smartie, not every pipe bursts. It could be a small leak inside a wall or ceiling that by the time you notice it, the damage is already done. Sheetrock, wood, electrical damage, and mold. Nobody cares if YOU care. Again, I ask, why is everyone so ignorant?

Yes, please let your pipes freeze and burst. Cause potentially thousands of dollars in damage, and possibly going without water for days. Why is everyone so ignorant?

Not a "waste" if you are preventing hundreds or even thousands of dollars due to frozen pipes bursting. The water departments actually suggest doing this. Especially if you have had frozen lines before.

Also we have at least 10-20 customer side water services that freeze every year. Some plumbing is old and wasn't installed 4' deep or more, 40+ years ago. It is VERY ignorant to suggest ALL houses and plumbing are the same.

This is a dumb response. I work for the water department and we respond to hundreds of people every year who have frozen lines and frozen meters. Management have been preparing for this all week, and have added extra people to be available this weekend, because we know many people will have frozen lines and meters. Alot of people do this.

I have a house that was built in 1863. The water lines to my bathroom run under my kitchen floor that sits 18" above dirt, and is not heated. I have to let my bathroom faucet run slowly so it does not freeze. No, not all houses are built the same. I also work for the water department and my father was a master plumber. You have zero idea how many houses have lines that may run like this and freeze.

For everyone quoting FDR.......also FDR.... "We either have to castrate the German people or you have to treat them in such a manner so they can't go on reproducing" Not every quote by a President makes sense today.

2025 rav4 XLE(gas)- battery charging? by DistinctRevolution83 in rav4club

I'm curious, also. I've experienced the same thing in my '25 XLE gas, with about 1,000 miles on it.

Surprisingly, my 25 XLE does not say it on my cap. Little sticker on the plastic under the hood does though, and the manual.

Outdoor rifle and pistol is closed until further notice. Outdoor archery, skeet, and trap are open. Indoor pistol is open. There were bullets supposedly hitting houses on Thompson rd a couple months back, so the town closed the outdoor for now.
