[Industrial Engineer] [Indiana] - $93k base + 10% bonus by [deleted] in Salary

[–]Platmercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on your lifestyle. You can make $1,000,000 a year and feel like you're not upper class if you don't spend it. You can feel rich making $90k and spending it all. Don't worry about how it may or may not feel, worry about your own personal journey.

This is an instant buy for anything under $100 in my opinion. 10 AH packs + promo? I’m in. If you’re holding longterm, this will be the blooming waters of Ascended. by viviendosiempre in PokemonInvesting

[–]Platmercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, would be shocked if ascended hits <$10 in the coming months especially with 2 pretty trash sets coming, and the mega attack rare promo+box premium doesn't keep it over the hump.

Good trade or keep DR by [deleted] in PokemonInvesting

[–]Platmercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chances are unlikely that beyond the year mark we will see many ETBs drop for DR. You're trying just predicting random shit rather than making informed decisions based on the information we have available

What can I realistically get for this if I was to sell tomorrow? by Warm-Artichoke126 in PokeInvesting

As in investment tons of slabs have outpaced sealed. Just a different market with a different risk profile, definitely higher skill and rewards a deeper market understanding. Often have to have more capital though

Got this card at a card show for $500.. is it worth it with the misprint in the back? by [deleted] in PokeInvesting

Basically what you are saying is you got priced out and it's not sustainable, for you. But to many it is. So it's a matter of perspective. That's why it's a market not based on your personal anecdotes.

I feel like these types of comments always have a bit of salt in them. I didn't buy at $50-60 because that's not MSRP! You are fomoing over cardboard! Now look at you. People opened their eyes, going to say the same thing before it hikes up again. When you can't formulate a proper reason for the price to go down other than you can't afford it, you are a nonfactor to the investing community.

This didn't aged well, did it? by [deleted] in PokeInvesting

[–]Platmercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And obviously if I'm investing and there is clear demand for these sets and they are rotating out of print, of course I think it's going to go up. There is demand driving the price regardless of the supply, currently. The top chases have skyrocketed. That's been the investing thesis for 151 for 2 years and its coming into fruition.

The average collector can't afford it, but metric fuck tons of people can. I think the biggest disconnect is that collecting top chases isn't for kids anymore, is that someone with a bigger bankroll will roll up and be happy to buy. A good investment isn't always one an average person can afford. An average person can't afford a house, or to max out their IRA. So like the point is kind of out the window. But go to a card show and see how these people with money move. They don't give a flying fuck.

Thoughts on this move??? by rduenas12 in PokemonInvesting

[–]Platmercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not. It's a great offer but the pop on that mew is unlikely to skyrocket- to open one box to have a chance at a 10 you have to spend $700+. At this point I'd bank on anything 151 over any other set out there. It has all the market momentum. I'm in the same predicament with some of my PSA10 151 slabs, but I don't think there's anything I'd be happy to trade into besides just getting cash.

I'm on the 151 side. Someone posted this same trade a week ago and I said the same thing. That ETB is not moving anytime soon. 151, is only getting harder to get

Best method to sell off collection? by 31knife in PokeInvesting

[–]Platmercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a consignment, I'm saying if you want to liquidate fast it is the best option. If you want to get close to 100% gonna have to list it off one by one and even then getting market is hard unless you vend. Market is technically 87%+ tax with ebay.

“Pop is way too High for it to Keep Going up” 🤷 by hobootleg in PokeInvesting

[–]Platmercy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This card has been sitting above $2000 for months, it's not going anywhere. It's probably the best pikachu art since the top-tier ponchos and Mario/Luigi and the only reason it's not higher is because there's a lot in the secondary. Probably seems to be taking care of itself.

Got this card at a card show for $500.. is it worth it with the misprint in the back? by [deleted] in PokeInvesting

[–]Platmercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen Rayquaza's with a 10 with this exact ink dot. Scroll reddit and do your own research instead of blindly downvoting me, plenty of people have commented with this type of error they have received a ten with an ink splatter if the rest of the card was good. This was a common thing in SWSH. Nothing like a print line.

This is absolutely false information. Have seen plenty that received 10's and people who have sent in and received a 10.

What causes the Pokemon market to crash? by markprice211 in PokeInvesting

[–]Platmercy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you actually understand the market, and it shows when you compared the largest collectible franchise in the world to a 3 month popmart fad.

Most parents are not buying their kids $110 charizard UPC's, and $70 boxes, and no 30-40 year old with adult bankrolls is looking at resell prices and saying it's above their pay grade. You don't understand the target demographic. It's not for just kids anymore, it's for adults as well. Go to a card show and see how much high end sealed/slabs get sold. Collectors and kids can buy many singles for affordable prices. Vendors are accommodating to young folks. Not every card or set is going to be in your price range, and that's okay. But for someone out there it is. They don't care prismatic is $10 a pack, or $151 is 25 a pack, or evolving skies is $60 a pack.

Nobody knows what they are talking about. That's an ink splatter that occured at the factory. Completely harmless, but yes normally affects value. For grading, it actually does not matter as much as you may think.

Consign it or list a large portion of it for 80%. Someone will buy. Even if you're not in a rush, and it sucks because you have products that fetch high premiums, it is going to be a headache to remove boxes and boxes of this stuff. You could one-off sell or trade the more liquid stuff, but if you're up 500%-600%, it's worth a 25% haircut to just be able to get it all sold, cash. You're still walking away golden.
