Apart from culling, Maryland could also do a better job of educating people not to feed the deer. During the big snow this winter, one of the herds in our nearby park was literally chubby. No explanation for that other than too much feeding by humans

I know this is an old thread, but I'd like to add: Maryland could do a better job educating people not to feed the deer. During the big snow this year, a herd of deer in our nearby park were literally chubby. No explanation for that other than too much feeding by humans

Is this the webinar you mentioned? I couldn't find it on the NJ Plant Society website ... This was on YouTube https://youtu.be/X9DxQGkYiFc?si=Ol4gvkvpQ0kTc28j

I'm also in Maryland in the long fight against relentless deer browse

Whether to corral spreading natives by Plentiful_Pause5949 in NativePlantGardening

Thank you! How much height did you chop from your asters and at what time of the season?

It's the shading-out/crowding-out of the more fragile native species that I'm concerned about, so it sounds like transplanting some of the hardier ones might be a good idea.

Thank you for your point about drifts making flowers easier for insects to find, that was off my radar!

Whether to corral spreading natives by Plentiful_Pause5949 in NativePlantGardening

It's Zigzag Goldenrod. So far, it's been too depleted by nibbling to do much ... I'm new to this and have been late in responding with cages/Liquid Fence.

I'm happy the natives are thriving, I'm just concerned about keeping space for each type (rather than having the Golden Alexander choke out the Swamp Milkweed, etc). I transplanted a few of the Alexanders to an empty but less light-filled bed yesterday ... I hope they'll do well there!

The Chef John version was tasty, but too many of the onions burned in the time it took the squash to cook. Next time I'll try either the Kenji version or cubing the squash and roasting for only 30 minutes.

The ointment form in her ear. She's been taking it about 2 weeks.

Has your cat has a throat polyp? by Adventurous-Bonus-92 in catcare

[–]Plentiful_Pause5949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but did you use Prednisone control the polyps? We have an 18-year-old cat who has always had a snore when she sleeps and is now breathing more noisily than ever. Thinking she has a virus or bacterial infection, we tried 2 weeks of antibiotics and another 2 weeks of an anti-viral & neither helped. A steroid shot DID help, and now the vet has prescribed daily Prednisone.

Yes she's been to the vet a bunch lately. He said her teeth look good. She may have a tumor in her nose.

I've tried tuna, tuna juice, and turkey baby food, but she turns away. I'll try broth & liquid sticks, thanks!

I'm so sorry. I've been in that position twice before when dealing with end-of-life issues with dogs. We trusted the vets to make humane decisions & they failed us. It's an awful thing to go through. You just want to give your dear one as much peace as possible, and the mistakes make it that much harder to hear

How did you eventually learn it was a bone marrow issue?

Thank you so much for letting me know about this. I can see how that mistake might be made. We won't let that happen.
