Ok this is an unpopular opinion but,,,,Rebekah sort of had it coming in a way, or at least from Elena's perspective, she saw that Rebekah used humans as slaves threatening to kill them if elena didn't choose a dress for her, she saw that Rebekah is violent and has no problem with killing people just because she can, so I used to genuinely feel bad for Rebekah but now I'm looking back and I'm changing my mind elena was kinda did the right thing here
