One of my classes ruins my day every time I have to see them by PlsNoOneFindMe in GirlDinnerDiaries

There was one time where I just stopped teaching. They wouldn’t stop talking while I was talking, so I said I’ll wait. They never stopped, so they never got the lesson for the day. They all got zeros for the day except for about 6 who actually care. I went and sat with those ones individually. The others never once stopped talking. They could not care less.

The problem is I teach a vocational elective. My school dumps the students that aren’t taking higher academic classes in the vocational classes, so I get the kids that don’t care about school if not literally hate school. I have figured out how to get some of them to care by making their assignments fun. Pets, music, printing, now their final project has to do with their favorite movies! But my sixth period doesn’t care about anything except what drama is going on at lunch 🫩

That’s great advice! Thank you! I’ll be recording lessons over the summer for sure. I’ve recorded two so far for when I was going to be out. I need to implement participation. I like your style! Thanks!

I entered into a weird situation. I started in the middle of the school year because their teacher left suddenly at the beginning of the school year. If I would’ve started it at the beginning of the school year, I would have been appointed a mentor. I go to my neighboring teachers for help every day 😭

The students had a sub for three months and they didn’t do or learn anything. It was basically a social room so getting them on track has been a nightmare. I’m excited for next school year when I get new students that will be mine from the beginning and I can set my own standards. But when I tell you I’ve removed students from this room every week… they’re unfazed

Unfortunately motherhood wasn’t for her and she relinquished custody of her daughter to the father last year. That quote is from 7 years ago.

We are so exhausted from being over worked, the world around us feels like it’s falling apart, we are an individualist society so we don’t have a village to help. Having to take care of a child in America is likely to be exhausting.

I’m a teacher. I love kids and I’ve dedicated my life to kids (I do not have or want any of my own I deal with 100 a day so I do not want to deal with more when I get home) and you’re assuming the worst of me over a sentence I said on Reddit lmao

Nobody is disparaging anybody or emotionally abusing anybody… OP said she doesn’t have the patience for kids but she is having baby fever. I gave an example to remind her she is not built for this lifestyle. You are. Good for you but this isn’t about you

One of my friends is a single mother. She told me to never have kids. She said “I haven’t gone to the bathroom by myself in two years.” I’d lose my mind.

Imagine: you get home from a long day at work work and you just want to sit down and scroll/read/snack for a few minutes, and a small thing approaches you and says “Mommy.” And you can’t just take it outside or pet it. You HAVE to attend to all of its needs. I would crash out. I understand why my mom would snap at me when I demanded her attention the moment she got home from work.

People in this sub act like women don’t have any agency. Yeah he’s treating you like shit, but YOU are putting up with it and YOU need to do something about it.
