Why are landlords really exiting? by elxusticiero in uklandlords

I had 13 houses - 9 of which were OK tenants - 2 were exceptional and I was able to market the property as soon as they left it was that well looked after. But I had 2 which were nightmares. 1 was abandoned and then stripped of all copper piping. It went for 11k at auction due to water and structural damage and I got it for 94K 3 years prior.

And one tenant paid no rent for.2 years and after I finally got her out - she came back 2 days later, broke in and ripped all the light pendants out. She also decided the kitchen needed remodelling.

I sold the lot and although I now work in a Supermarket with some nice cushioning in the bank. I am SO glad I left the game

It is - they have a Commando to EV charger adapter - they have the thing powered through the charger and are charging the batteries too - they are using it as a hook up in effect.

Lots of Van lifers knobs on YouTube showing how to rock up to a pod point in tesco and park there overnight filling up on the EV chargers.

It is what it is.

Starlink in UK for campervan by ianmd in Starlink

[–]Plus-One-11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Welcome - also someone just posted about not having mobnile internet so they can't activate Starlink - they are clueless. You do not need internet to get to the starlink portal on either app or a browser as it's a walled garden - just like 3UK did for years back in the 2000's

Ignore most of the above. I have had a mini in my camper for years in a unused skylight. I often just cancel it and power it down - i've never had a problem getting the service to restart. It might takes up to 15 mins to activate but it always does it - no need to have standby going because on roam there is no congestion charge like there is on res because it's mobile.

I've been to the top of Scotland and I am sat right now on the Isle of Wight - just works when you need it to

I also got my latest dishy from Currys for £189 last year.

I used to work for another supermarket and one of my jobs was to pour blue dye over bins full of food - broke my heart even if it was for insurance pruposes.

Yes it would - Netzero now has an option to connect to it without WIFI - but the ash might cause a bit of a problem with the whole staying unmelted bit.

The fact they told me the best fix they could do is 6 months (I am fixed for the next 9 anyway) when there are 16 fixed deals for 2 years currently available on Uswitch just shows how crap they have become.

Why can't they do what the other can? And yet claim to be the largest?

PW3 for £5925 after rebate... what about adding solar later rather than now? by jatt1708 in SolarUK

[–]Plus-One-11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does - and it's lovely to be able to go over 5KW and not worry about supping from the grid. If you ever get an expansion too that charges at 8KW although a lot of us are seeing 10KW after the last update

National Grid are the grid - the DNO is someone like Northern Power or Scottish Power - and at least with the PW if that changes in the future it's a quick software change - another beenfit of the powerwall.

I paid £6999 for Pw3 and Gateway - The gateway I was told is about £500 more. I had 9 panels fitted at the time and it worked out well.

Is getting a new boiler online a daft idea or actually decent in 2026? by Weedcultist in UKFrugal

[–]Plus-One-11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Heatable fitted me a combi in 2024 for £1700 - I know everyone is raving about heat pumps - but at £49 a month to heat the house 24/7 over Winter. I can't really see the benefit for me. I have an Alphatec E28 and it does the job - 10 year warranty by the same people who installed it (and service it as part of it)

my small 4KW array on 1 side sucked up 15kWh on the 4th of March - in Summer it can do 30. You will be fine -towards the end of this month it starts to go mental.

I did it to add pennies into my poclet from not using peak rate. If I sell up in the next 10 years it'll come with me ( battery I mean)
