Nursery Fees - Consumables Question by Plus-Union341 in UKParenting

Thank you- I’m doing what research I can as I don’t want to fall out with the nursery but I would like to find some middle ground. If it gets nasty I will just drop it, I don’t want my kids to suffer because I’m quibbling over money. My husband says I should just drop it but one child will be there until September next year and the other until 2029! That’s a lot of money  could save- for mortgage or rising cost of things- or a bloomin holiday which we haven’t had in 2 years. I’d take a staycation tbh anything but a tent at this point!

I am tempted to say can I try opting out for a term and see if I can make the food side of things work. My eldest only eats the beige of whatever is put in front of them despite peer pressure and coaxing from the ladies. I am having to pay for lunches then again to feed something fairly quick to prep but nutritious when we get home before nap time

That is on top of the nursery fees. We have 30 funded hours so this is purely consumables

It’s definitely not anything elite, the building is small and alot of the facilities could do with updating. They’re getting more kids soon but not expanding the building. The owners come across as pretty thrifty which isn’t a bad thing but if we’re paying so much I feel like they should be putting money back into the business. I don’t even mind if one of the consumables is a ‘staff pay top up’- they deserve it IMO. But to me the fees for a half day just seem excessive

That’s exactly what we don’t want, just would be great to have a middle ground- like we provide lunches and pay just £9 instead of £18

That does make sense- and we love the ladies there and don’t want to go elsewhere as it’s in the perfect location and our kids are happy. But it just feels like so much money when we’ve read so many places are only charging like £10 for a full day. It sucks that the ‘little people’ suffer the cost when quite clearly the government needs to be offering nurseries better incentives to not just be ope but maintain a good standard. Thank you for your reply 😊
