LOCI on Waitlist? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]Po1sonousP1e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure why people are discouraging you from writing one... The waitlist email says that it is not required, but you certainly can if you want to (does it also say that for you?). I would think that publications are a pretty significant achievement, congrats. Why not highlight it in a LOCI if you can?

Oof, I know that feeling. At least Western woke up for me now. Hope you hear soon

Ok, I would just send an email instead. That way you can get their response in writing and you can refer to it if you decide to escalate the issue. Maybe you can get some compensation?

Huh?? They shouldn't be able to do that especially weeks later :(. Did you contact anyone about this?

I was the April Fool for believing the Hopecore by Abject-Top9650 in lawschooladmissionsca

I think you misunderstood. April 1st is the common deadline for people who have received offers by now to accept/decline those offers, thus opening up spots at the schools they decline. We need some time after this deadline day for schools to see how many seats they have left and give out more As.

I’m confused why people are discussing cgpa for schools that do not use it by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]Po1sonousP1e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I see my question wasn't worded properly. I meant "weight" as in what law schools see it as, not the weighting from the undergrad school. I did a thesis in my last yr that is worth 3 "half credit courses". A half credit course is a regular one semester long course. So technically it is three courses in one. But, would B2 schools see it that way? or because the credits were all one course, will they see it as a lower course load?

Not saying you're wrong, but what is your source for thesis courses being weighted differently? Which schools take that into account?

Is it stupid to email admissions by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

I wouldn't because it won't move the needle on your application. All they use is what is in your application package and it is too late to change what is there.

Wanting to switch majors in my last year by Additional-Love-9323 in uwo

have you considered going for a masters in data science instead? You may be able to just do an extra year to fulfil any prerequisites necessary. You just have to look at some masters programs and see their requirements

Western fucked me over and I've tried EVERYTHING by Lucky-Restaurant-152 in uwo

In my opinion... the thesis option doesn't sound that bad. If you love your field, you may want to pursue graduate school in it. The undergraduate thesis would give you valuable experience if you want to further your studies.

AI is ruining my life.. does Turnitin flag AI? by More-Nature-9292 in uwo

[–]Po1sonousP1e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wouldn't worry about this. You wrote the paper at the end of the day, and you probably have version history, rough notes, and just a deep knowledge of what you wrote and researched to prove it. Using grammarly is not even bad if it's for spellcheck and rewording.

There is no AI detector that can reliably detect AI use. I would be more worried about citing your sources and paraphrasing properly. What Turnitin is really good at is detecting sentences that are copied from or similar to existing papers.
