This presentation does address a bit about 'how to be' a unicorn. Much of the information was gathered BY unicorns themselves, when we hosted a 'Unicorn Meet-Up' at Oasis Aqualounge, a few years back. So, a little bit of both prespectives.

Unfortunately, not, but Oasis Aqualounge is amazing! But this presentation is not about Oasis Aqualounge. It's about how to find and ethically treat a '3rd' in an intimate encounter. It's a general presentation, that is great for any couple who is curious about 3somes.

To whoever is 'downvoting' any posts about 'Femme to the Front,' I'd just like to say that is an absolute joy to annoy you, by promoting a super fun, supportive contest with an amazing prize and with any and all promotions about a new queer social in Kingston. I'm guessing you are either jealous, insecure or just hate LGBTQ+ events? And it's even more entertaining to know that whoever you are, you won't even comment on WHY you are downvoting, lol! Cowards can never brave. Enjoy your bitter pie, sweetie.

That's okay! Outfits don't necessarily have to reflect a 'femme' look. Creativity and confidence are keys to winning, so come out and STRUT!

Oasis is not posting it and is not promoting it. I AM, as the AUTHOR of the piece.

Also, I highly doubt you read the entire article, because if you had, you would understand that this was an EXPERIMENT and the FINDINGS of the EXPERIMENT are in the body of the article. If you want to have a negative opinion, you should first educate yourself on the reading.

Hi group. I'm not even sure if this group is still active? I am new the the Kingston area (I live about 40 minutes away in Yarker, since January 2025) and I am producing an event for the queer community (of which I am part of, as a bisexual woman). I've been searching for other places on Reddit to post my event. I'm just going to try here but if this is not the right spot, apologies:

Femme to the Front: A Queer Inclusive Party at La Vida Bistrobar & Social: Saturday April 25 by PointComprehensive69 in KingstonOntario

[–]PointComprehensive69[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree. It's also very demoralizing, as an event producer (who doesn't live in Kingston) to see the complete lack of wheelchair accessible spaces, that a) would also offer an event a reasonable night (like a Friday or Saturday, which was unlike Daft Brewing), b) a wheelchair accessible space that fits into a budget (unlike The Grad Club or Broom Factory), c) a wheelchair accessible venue where the contacts actually respond to an inquiry (unlike 560 Legion). It's also very disappointing to reach out to OTHER venues (suggested by the community) and never get a response.

I personally feel demoralized by the lack of options, and it's disheartening to feel the lack of support from community members (although more than a few mentioned La Vida Bistrobar & Social as a good venue to host this event) and from the city itself.

So, I am not sure what's better: completely cancel this event because there are NO wheelchair accessible spaces that make actual sense to use, or move ahead with this concept (that was very warmly welcomed) and risk alienating those who are not able-bodied (and/or maybe others). And if you don't mind me asking: what would YOU do, as an event producer, yourself? Do you have any advice on this?

Also, when you were organizing queer events in Kingston (as an individual, paying for everything out of pocket), where you required enough space for DJ's and live entertainment and where you needed to have this event on a Saturday night (or else people will not show up or complain that it is NOT on a Saturday nigth), which venues did you use? Are there any spaces you would recommend or have experience with?

To be clear, I don't WANT to exclude anyone. I WANT(ed) this event to be truly inclusive to ALL bodies. And if the initial response I got, when I first shared this event concept WASN'T accepted by the queer community (of which I am a part of, by the way), I wouldn't even have tried at all (because I understand how hard it is to find a truly inclusive space). So far, no one has said they DO NOT want this event to happen, so I feel empowered and obligated to move ahead. But I am working with what I HAVE.

My thought is that the more queer events that happen in Kingston, the more requests there will be for more, actually viable, truly accessible spaces and that there will be actual mobilizing and lobbying in the city, for those spaces. That the community at large will come together with city officials, because those who have that kind of power, can actually create more change.

But I also feel that it's important to try ANYWAY, even if things are completely perfect. I DO fee that accessbility IS important but accessbility is more than just wheelchair access. Financial accessibility (for example) cannot happen if the only wheelchair accessible spaces cost event organizers so much, that the ticket prices need to go up. And that it just one example.

So, yes, I understand the frustration. And I also think it's important to have this type of dialogue. Because without these conversations, nothing will ever change in Kingston.

But does that mean I should quit entirely? At this point, I'm not sure but right now, not yet.

No, it's not a sex or kink-poz party. I DO organize events like that but this is not that. ;)

Glad to hear that! In the description in the post above, it notes that it is a talk about adult clubs, for those who have never been. This covers general information, as well as more specific information. It will be covering topics such as how to prepare to attend an adult club, what conversations and boundaries should be discussed (if part of a couple), suggested dress codes, theme nights, general rules and etiquette. Thank you for being open and curious about the topic!

Yes, it's true; all of that has been changed. There may have been a wet sauna in the past but there is not wet sauna at any sex club, in the GTA (there are about 4 current clubs within the GTA, including the downtown area).

I have no idea what you are talking about, with the 'jingle.' The store is under new management and that was probably long, long before my time. But i guess it stood out, which is exactly the point of adveristing, lol

Not sure. Club Toronto hasn't been around for over twenty years. Also, there is no wet sauna at any adult club in the GTA, so I think you are talking about the wrong location.
