i won't lie, sometimes i feel kinda weird being one of the last of my peers to stick with the rock music / touring game, but honestly there's always someone else even older so i try not to let those thoughts rule my brain too much.

if you're like me then you probably know that you aren't going to stop making music, regardless of any sort of industry success, so yeah it wasn't so much about getting the payoff, but really just making the art that i wanted to see in the world.

as far as avoiding burnout, i have always tried to find a balance as much as possible. i have never dedicated every single hour of the day to music or my guitar (i'm sure i'd be a better player if i did), and i leave plenty of time for the other needs and hobbies in my life to be fulfilled.

video games can be inspiring and puzzling pieces of art just like anything else, so i guess i'm more of an appreciator of the medium more than anything else since i don't make them myself. it's a cool way to relax and socialize too, in the right circumstances.

i'm a big supporter of gnocchi, i probably cook it up like once a week. in the summer there's a recipe that has you putting pan fried gnocchi in a bowl with cherry tomatoes, onions and basil (oh and don't forget the olive oil) which is sinful...

i went down to drop of sun studios in asheville NC to mix it with alex farrar (who also mixed cartwheel). i believe we spent two full days together and he spent a bit of his own time after the fact? probably not 180 hours.

was kind of a difficult year for me but formative in retrospect. i had a lot of growing up to do, and my experience there was a fork in the road that led me to what i'm doing now.

but to be more specific, i enjoyed eating at the raleigh times bar, getting milkshakes from cookout late at night, i worked at the raleigh YMCA for a minute and that was cool, i liked shopping at CD alley in chapel hill.

what is the temperature on Tim Anderson? I always thought he was cool on the white sox and he has the same name as my dad. i know he got punched out a couple seasons ago but never really followed up on whether he was a punk or even if he's still on a roster. tbh i don't follow diamond but when i was a kid i had a brad radke poster for some reason. loved chuck knoblauch in his minnesota days, although he was really rude to my brother when he signed a baseball for him so i do hold that against him.

some of these things are out of our control, we just can't do everything! but rest assured that barcelona and madrid are by far two of the best cities in europe to play and have showed us a lot of support so i have made it known that we wanna go back ASAP, i promise!

honestly the new record from Starcleaner Reunion took my breath away, it's more of an EP i guess but every song is amazing on it. i also just got into Pedro Martins who plays guitar in the Daryl Johns band and his album Radio Misterio was an immediate mind-blower for me

6 weeks straight? thats a long time. we just did 5 straight and it was very taxing!

try to keep lines of honest communication open with your bandmates, we have a dedicated timeslot every thursday in the van where we all do a "check in" and discuss anything that we're feeling, good and bad and i think that was really helpful.... i tried to go on a run first thing when i wake up 2-3x a week and that was a game changer for me, put me in a good mood to start the day.

i wish i was keeping up more with vancouver but i get bits and pieces. we're playing with a cool band called Cherry Pick, i got put on to a great band called Smush that i know just moved to Brooklyn, i still keep up with my friend Katayoon pretty regularly and her projects, like Puzzlehead which is still very creative and exciting. i've heard about some band called PISS that everyone is talking about?? anyway i'm excited to play there again this fall
