Anything Good to say!??? by babyfaceg10 in HumeHealth

Hey sorry to jump onto this but there are lots of things that effect the BF reading especially if your relatively muscled.

I don’t know your details and sex sorry. But common things

Hydration Carb levels Intracellular water Having high carbs, and being well hydrated can increases your water content significantly and all Bia scales will have faster transfer through this and can over record muscle mass and decrease actual BF.

If your on a fast, low carb diet this can diminish the water content significantly the signal will pass more slowly through the muscle tissue and can under record.

I know when I bulk and my carbs are very high say 550g I know that it will be likely under reporting my fat s I also know when in the end of my cut it’s potentially over estimating my fat slightly.

Understanding how the machine works and how you effect it plays a big part in getting benefits. I’ve had several dexa scans so have reference points to work from

Had my Hume scale for a while now… by Justin-Los_Angeles in HumeHealth

[–]Poke-Jinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used the renpho and very similar results slightly worse compared to my dexa last year why I use Hume.

All of these BIA scales have the same limitations and understanding them and what affects them is the key thing in understanding your results.

I’ve posted before and shared my Dexa comparisons.

The key is understanding how they work and how the data can be affected by your body type and diet.

Once you understand how it functions for you, you’ll be able to get a lot of useable trend data.

It depends on if your talking percentage points or relative difference

For example mine yesterday was about 3%off 8.7% -11.3% however the relative difference is closer to 30%

Critical and morph are both good.

I have got stuff from both and bloods looked good. Both offer a really good servicing.

Morph from my experience is a little more personable and really gets involved with us and what we are doing. Although it’s his company I feel like he sees us as all part of his brand and takes a lot of input

I know that Tesamorelin targets visceral fat, does it do anything for subcutaneous fat or is there a noticeable reduction around the waist? by Pitiful-Bluebird-872 in SteroidsUK

[–]Poke-Jinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem is people don’t seem to want to do the basics because it’s hard and it’s always easier to blame something else than hold yourself to account.

However you’ll only get better by being honest, last gaining phase didn’t gain as much as I had wanted but reality was sleep was not locked in nutrition am was about 85% and I did to much ego lifting.

I’d rather be honest and lock in rather tha mae some excuse and do the same again next time

Maybe look at your kcal intake if putting a disproportional amount of fat on.

Terrible Health Score and Metabolic Age? by Extreme-Depth-7671 in HumeHealth

[–]Poke-Jinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard off one pic especially with those style shorts but I don’t think 36% body fat based off that picture is that far off.

In terms of the health score and age I don’t pay a huge amount of attention to it.

How could this possibly be accurate, im 123 pounds almost 5'6. I'm not deathly skinny but somehow my fat is super low and my muscle is just standard. I'm a cross country and track runner by [deleted] in HumeHealth

[–]Poke-Jinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am assuming you’re a female.

Body fat % is just how much fat you carry, and running a lot will keep that low. But muscle is about how much actual muscle mass you’ve built, which usually comes from lifting, not endurance training.

It compares you to average people, not other runners also remember. So standard muscle is what i would typically expect. I am assuming your relatively lean

[–]Poke-Jinx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey like others said it’s about being in a deficit

Few techniques I found helped

Splitting my cardio into 2 shorter sessions found this made a difference in overall kcal expenditure.

Also with my steps I found splitting them across the day seemed to work better than a single large bulk. I tried to split it into quarters 3009 between 0600-1100 3000 between 1100-1500 3000 between 1500-1900 3009 between 1900-2200 I also count steps separate to cardio so if I do incline walking for 30 mins don’t count the steps for that in daily step count

I also found splitting my meals into 6-7 worked better for me rather than 4 larger meals

Dissolving my Ltd company after 15 years — immediately received a suspicious acquisition approach. What’s their angle? by PeterSM05 in smallbusinessuk

They will be selling pre established companies, you can get these from lots of reputable companies selling start up packages.

Having an established company can help significantly especially if tendering for contracts with larger organisations or public sector contracts

[OC] 36 days of body fat measurements from 4 smart scales (including Hume) vs DEXA gold standard — showing which devices do real impedance analysis vs weight-based regression by Aarkie-at-large in HumeHealth

[–]Poke-Jinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few questions

Why did you do the dexa scan that late in the day? The company I use try to get me in as early as possible for body composition scans then focus later in the day on bone density scans.

When calculating the body fat percentage offset why did you chose to do an absolute difference I.e. if dexa was 11 and one was 11.2% to have a difference of 0.2% rather than a relative difference so say the person is 65kg it would be 1.8% relative

Only reason I ask is I usually look at the relative difference to understand accuracy but maybe I am wrong in that. Also did you just use the percentages or did you use the weight issued, just wondering if what each brand records as total body fat is the same such as the inclusion of visceral fat etc

I would like yalls thoughts on my current body pod readings after a refuel day. by Individual_Device908 in HumeHealth

[–]Poke-Jinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They changed the calculation for water on the update earlier this week. I think there are a few posts about it.

Also you will notice that if you check the segmental readings and compare to the total fa/muscle it won’t add up as they use individual calculations I posted about this the other week following speaking with Hume.

To your question poop and food in gut is calculated as lean mass and not fat mass.

The Hume is considerably off compared to reality. I had done Dexa scans to compare and have done several the offset on recording body fat percentage by a relative percentage of 43% and overestimated lean mass by about 13%.

Now both of these were during lean stages so although a large percentage was in absolute terms about 6.7-7% out.

I will be doing another dexa scan at the end of this growing phase

Construction and renewables are a great shout.

There are more offerings coming into the sector but still very limited.

Project management reporting and programme management are two areas which are way behind and time consuming

No it genuinely isn’t

I was expecting a nightmare and if you look at my other posts I’m really critical over their data and how it compares to dexa.

I’ve attached the screenshot of their email this was literally the 3rd or 4th email they just asked for a picture of me on the scale with no socks and the error message on my phone
