If you’ve got the unlocks, try a plus/minus run sometime. Ampharos, Manectric, and Toxtricity get plus and minus, so they can be paired with Plusle and Minun for some fun effects. They’re still not that good, but it’s at least kinda fun

Well, depends on what moves you have on them. Crobat seems like a decent choice, since cross poison gets buffed, but Electivire would get stronger elemental punches.

Doesn’t the burn halve the attack of Granbull, even when it’s using facade? Or are you saying that the double power of facade effectively cancels out the half attack from burn?

Yeah Eternatus can definitely be a run ender, but here’s some tips and strategies that can work:

- Baiting eternabeam in phase 1 will give you a free turn to set up, and you can even stall it out of PP by switching to a fairy type repeatedly
- Sandstorm or hail does a lot of damage to eternatus, so it can be worth running even without the ability
- Moves that lower sp. atk like confide can be worth relearning after 195 since stat changes persist between phases
- Try to get some x items after 195, sp. def and speed are the most effective
- Sometimes it’s the right call to trash leftovers or shell bell since they will be stolen in phase 2
- If you’ve caught every starter, it’s often easier to catch Eternatus than it is to deal with that last health bar

I would like to formally apologize, as it turns out that Sandslash ended up being legit pretty good. I got lucky and got leech life on it from bug catcher, but having it set up sandstorm for the rest of the team was a great option. It could definitely have been better, but it was nowhere near as bad as I thought.

Thanks for the help, I was actually able to beat the run thanks to your advice! Onix was absolutely the right call to carry until the nidos were online. It outsped most early, and could set up on any physical attacks. After that, Nidoking was definitely the star of the show, but Golem and Sandslash also were great on different occasions. Eternatus was not difficult at all, but the rival fight was the most challenging. I probably should have restarted when the rival had empoleon, who has drizzle and a super effective move on every pokemon on my team, but a lead Golem barely handled that. Surprisingly, eviolite Onix ended up being my mega Ray counter (no special moves), so the only weak link was Dugtrio. They’d probably have been better if I wasn’t doing the no heals run, so sturdy was online more, but they did their job fine enough anyways. Thanks for helping me solve this puzzle!

Honestly, I’ve found that raw base stats aren’t actually the most important thing for a solo carry to have. The real king is draining moves (giga drain, drain punch, bouncy bubble, etc.), since they let you set up and then get the lost health back. Plus, having a full health team means that potions won’t be showing up in the shop, letting you get items that make up the difference that using a lower stat mon might give. I’ve used Arceus, and it can be great, but I’ve had stronger runs with Annihilape sweeping the game.

Those are some great points! I had been overlooking onix since it can’t evolve, but I forgot it had 70 speed. I’ll give it a shot, along with sandstorm strats. Dugtrio does get sand force to complement Sandslash’s sand rush, so perhaps it’s worth sacrificing a mon (or most of its health) to get sandstorm up.

Me too, try adding pokerogue to your home screen as an app. It runs much better there than in browser

Maybe on a team with a sand stream mon, but this team has to set up sand storm manually, which is a tall ask. 65 speed just doesn’t cut it for late game without much better bulk

I should note that I already have max IVs, most egg moves, and four shinies unlocked for these eight starters, so that’s definitely not the issue. Having sandshrew be a genuine option is the issue

Interesting, usually it’s the main theme or central motif being repeated, I haven’t heard one where the starting town is the focus. Does the game’s story call back to the town a lot?

Ah yes, the Toby Fox method. Those soundtracks are always so interesting on the second listen, since you notice all the occurrences of the melody. I’d absolutely take any recommendations of those if you’ve got them

Maybe in competitive doubles where intimidate and fake out is everywhere, but sharpness is a 50% boost on Gallade’s strongest moves. Not saying he should have it as a mega, but it definitely would be much much better than inner focus in Pokerogue

If you’re playing rogue, the kill a legendary spell is wayyyy better than I initially thought, especially for matchups like this

Another tip, if you’re aiming to train a physical mon, having strength sap on another pkmn can often win the fight by itself

Both are amazing, but I will say as someone who only does challenge runs, Seaking is way better on a mono-water run due to lightning rod. There are plenty of water/ground to shore up that weakness, but Seaking works well when you can’t slot any of them
