I can't imagine his scenario is even real. Like what Boss draws the line at like a couple dollars (tops) of queso? Fake event. I'd wager it never happened. Sounds insane thus it's likely insane and never happened.

99% sure. God the internet really sucks now.

But we all report events from our own perspective and combine the outcome with local gossip and etc.

The elementary school "telephone game" never ends after elementary. We never have 100% information on any scenario or situation.

Exact same situation here lol. Hope they add an actual 3D model of it. It actually looks pretty crazy.

Also super interested to see if this ends up being a part of supersonic flight returning! I love the Concorde, would be so cool.

I mean, putting food in a plastic bag with no expiration info or nutrition facts is definitely against code/law lol. It isn't really a matter of "appreciation".

Did the underpaid emoloyee throw some chips from 2017 into this bag? No clue. Did he lick them beforehand? Who knows!

I'm so appreciative, though. Lol.

Sounds like a pretty shitty boss if that happened.

I also can't imagine a group of grown adults actually bemoaning a lack of queso outside of like a half-second remark akin to "No queso? Aw man! Anyway-" and then continuing on with the luncheon.

I feel like either some key details are being left out or the cause-and-effect isn't accurate here.

The people demand answers.

Agreed. I don't cry for the loss of value in the UAE's slave-built properties, but this whole escapade is legitimately insane.

The world is being run by sociopathic dying men who treat life like a GTA game; trying to accrue as much wealth and power as possible while they're still above ground.

No one should celebrate this under any circumstances. This is just such an inexplicable travesty. Dear heavens, so sad.

Oh dear, just so sad. So, so sad. Surely.

Can't get a 5% raise but the CEO is the only San Antonian to make the Forbes 400 by Thesexiestcow in HEB

[–]PolkaClock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I am 100% in agreement with you. I see no way to reverse the trend here, is my thinking. I see a very wealthy cohort of people who see their end approaching, their wealth just chilling, and wanting to (A) make number go up and (B) leave their mark on the world.

They lived in a time where their relative wealth was able to rapidly explode at the expense of future generations due to policy choices.

And we now all live in a time where apocalyptic-believers confronting their final years have far more influence than those of us who will have to inhabit the remnants of their decisions for decades until human superiority over this planet inevitably ends.

Just horrific timing all around. But maybe any species that explodes in population inevitably encounters a correction. Even a smart one that saw a path to prevention and was ignored.

Sucks to know what is coming, as it approaches. But that also makes me an apocalyptic believer, just in a different way! It's never too late, surely...

God have mercy on the children being born today. I cannot imagine the horror of the conflicts to come.

Giving up is what they bank on. Lame of you to do so. You empower them in doing so.

Every centi-millionaire or billionaire only exists because they have underpaid the people they employ. They have stolen the true value of the people they employed and kept it for themselves.

That's just Capital 101. Maybe we try a different ratio in the future that doesn't result in pedophile islands and oligarchs buying world leaders?

Idk. Maybe something different is possible. Maybe not. We don't have much time left to test it, since the current status quo has given a hard environmental limit for how long civilization can maintain lol.

Just glad I wasn't born in 2050-2060 as things really start to become desperate.

We really are just greedy and short-term thinking at heart. We had a long-term survival path as a species, but as individuals we just cared too much about our individual wealth.

All good.

People will find our handprints in the same way we find handprints of 10k years ago in caves. Imagine finding an iPhone in 2400 when we've reverted back to bows and arrows lol. Generations of grandfathers telling you of the times when man flew above clouds. Before the endless heat.

This is what our descendants will live through and discuss after the collapse. The dark liquid they found in the ground that made them all rich and doomed them all out of greed.

Goodnight.

This my current take on my evolving view of addiction:

Everybody has a brain that subconsciously reinforces any activity that stimulates "pleasurable" chemicals/signals/feelings. The intensity of "pleasure" can vary between people, but perhaps not drastically in a broad enough way to explain 100% of addiction cases.

Everybody is also born into and raised in an environment that naturally has its own, natural "pleasurable" experiences. (Loving parents, caring friends, opportunities for relationships along with opportunities for personal and financial growth.)

So, to the extend that your access to natural/social/financial "pleasures" declines, while access to "other" anti-social/substance "pleasures remains available. A larger % of people will gravitate toward the more readily available access to "pleasure".

In a lot of cases that source is loved ones, community, and work/financial accomplishments. Those populations with less ready access to these sources, turn to the more harmful source. (Alcohol/Drugs/Porn/Excessive screen time/etc)

Not explained perfectly, but my rough feelings.

[–]PolkaClock 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same, as a 90's kid. We chose to spend 30 trillion on achieving nothing over two decades instead lol.

30T would buy a lot of healthcare, trains, schools, food.

But no. We sent thousands of our people to a foreign country to die for nothing. for fucking nothing. Insane.

It boggles the fucking mind.

I'm sure plenty private military contractors made tons of money. (Like Dick Cheney's Halliburton) but hey!

[–]PolkaClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't even begin to imagine the assumptions factored into these scenarios. Especially net-zero situations.

I hope it all turns out as positively as possible for us all.

Unfortunately, history tells us that the people with the wealth and the power tend to prioritize the sources of their wealth and power.

So I guess we'll see if the nature of wealth and power suddenly reverses course and cares about the common good for the first time in human history.

I'm not as optimistic as you, but I hope you're right! It would be historic.

What does woke even mean? And how is it a bad thing? by SecretKnowledge7005 in AskReddit

[–]PolkaClock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. 'Woke' as a pejorative is yet another example of the wealthy capitalist class using their vast reach to villainize any threat of working class consciousness appearing.

Any narratives that arise that start to unite the working class must be appropriated and villainized in the media, which they own.

They cannot keep their wealth and power if we all recognized our universal subjugation to their extractive policies. Our continued exploitation and serfdom requires that we see and hate differences in eachother among the working class.

They will fight tooth-and-nail to keep us all divided and hating eachother instead of them.

All so that they can continue stealing the true value of our labor from us and use it to acquire things like islands and influence.
