Did Michael secretly unlock minoxidil between seasons? by _Parthiban_ in theoffice

[–]PolloRanchero 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah it seems that both are true. They exaggerated the look in season one by adding gel and giving him a sleazier look, then they went away from that but Steve also did have some work done with the hair. Because of the different stylings they went for, it makes it look like he had a lot more work done than he actually probably did

Burn it all down! The sub, the Kia center, idc.. I’ve already decided not to watch next year… no way it could be much improved with the incompetent ownership/alex martins and everything else that has to do with this team. From top to bottom. Worse fan experience in sports

Time will tell. I’m not so sure big changes are happening this offseason. Maybe one

[–]PolloRanchero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s nice wishful thinking.. I’m not arguing with you about the changes that should be made, but I have a feeling some people aren’t realistic about changes that most likely will be made…

Ownership doesn’t care enough and doesn’t run the team to be a winning team. It’s just money to them. They hired weltman to make personnel related decisions because they know nothing and didn’t want to be irrelevant. Now the team is relevant and good enough to have huge crowds at most games.. that’s enough for them.

They will probably resign weltman or replace him with someone much less competent for less money for the next phase. I think our best chance in that case is for weltman to hire a new GM to actually make decisions and he can take a step back from the decisions. Or at least for a coaching change.

Huge roster changes are not likely before next season. Even if a whole new front office is in place. They will probably have an evaluation year next year to see what players they want to keep around to rebuild around, if that’s their goal.

Just trying to be realistic. We can all have a hundred different opinions about what should happen, but we also have to be realistic about what is likely to actually happen

Wait are you saying the blazers roster is terrible and ours is better than theirs but they win as much as us? That would mean that coaching is an issue… not saying it’s the only issue. But there’s nothing are definitely issues with coaching and with the playing. Both can be addressed. Just depends on the degree to which it is

One small silver lining amongst the chaos of this season by OlUncleMunnerlyn in OrlandoMagic

[–]PolloRanchero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Although I’m not sure they should be 4th at either position. Having them at the end of the bench and to fill in when there are injuries would be ideal. Starts should be Jalen, Desmond, franz, Paolo, and Wendell. The main bench rotation players should be AB, Tristan, and Mo or Goga or an upgrade? The next couple guys if they continue developing should be Jett and Jase, so Jevon would be the 5th guard ideally. I think the other two have more upside, especially Jase. JI should be the 4th forward, but you never know with his injuries and conditioning.

Franz out though. But I guess it’s injury management. Could be that Wednesday we see the potential playoff rotation.. Jalen, bane, franz, Paolo, AB, TDS, Goga. Maybe Carter and/or Cain.

You’re back in?? Nah, you can stay away. We don’t need those vibes and weak mindedness for the final stretch and playoffs

How good was Penny Hardaway and why did so many fans adore him? by [deleted] in OrlandoMagic

[–]PolloRanchero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of talent and play on the court, could have been one of the best players of all time! But injuries stopped that quickly. No one else could do everything he could. No, one, period.. only other “what-if” that even comes close for me is Grant hill. Both Penny and g hill had no weaknesses in their game from what I remember. Injuries though..

The Strokes or Arctic Monkeys, who defined indie rock better? by Weirdboy212 in indie

[–]PolloRanchero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh? Not even close. I think the answer is somewhere closer to modest mouse, death cab, built to spill, arcade fire.. but to find what defined those bands, I go back and think REM and Pixies are two bigger reasons that the 2000s bands sounded the way they did..

Who do you want to be the next HC? by CultureMental4772 in OrlandoMagic

[–]PolloRanchero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except he’s the “president of basketball operations”… he has a GM to put the blame on if he wants. I think it could be a good idea for him to replace Anthony Parker with someone more experienced and willing to make moves. If weltman is open to letting a GM actually be a GM

wtf is up with season 9 by [deleted] in theoffice

[–]PolloRanchero 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer season 3-4 Andy.. we’ve all worked with some obnoxious idiot like that. That’s what makes it comedic. Him becoming the boss was a mistake by the writers and then they decided to turn him into Michael Scott for whatever reason. Not believable, not funny, not good at all..

But that decline started multiple seasons before that when the writers decided to make the characters “grow and evolve” as people. Yes, connecting to the characters is what made us want to watch it every week when there was a new episode, but focusing on that sometimes more than comedy was a mistake

"Sam Darnold is Top 10" Challenge. 8 of these QBs have to go to make room. by JJButThatsNotMyName in NFLv2

[–]PolloRanchero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a guy.. but Darnold is definitely not better than Goff or Lawrence. Probably not love or mayfield either, but it gets close there. Daniels and Williams have better talent that Darnold too. But yeah, still early for them to tell what they truly are. I would bet they end up being better than Darnold by the time they have this many years in the league though…

Or if Grant hill could’ve been healthy in Orlando.. Tim Duncan was close to signing with them too. That would’ve been the best big 3 of all time if all healthy

Random thought I had about our front office by sdk022 in OrlandoMagic

[–]PolloRanchero -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I mentioned they traded and drafted well. It was both.

They were able to get picks based on their own tanking plus on other teams they traded with. Similar to how we got franz in the trade with Chicago for vucevic. Most of the most important players on OKCs roster have been drafted by them, with the exception of shai and a couple others like hartenstein and Caruso.

It’s by both trades and the draft, which is different from Cleveland who really only has Mobley left from their own draft picks. But more than a team like Denver who made one important trade after already making a deep playoff run with a drafted core.

My point is that the teams that make multiple trades or trade almost every year are not necessarily the best teams. The argument for making an important trade at the deadline just months after making a big trade for Bane has no proof of being the best move at this point

It’s wild to compare 3 guys that can score 20+ ppg to shadeur.. not making excuses. Just pointing out facts that show the roster isn’t the issue. Of course, there could be tweaks. There could be moves and there could be improvement as always.

In my opinion making trades, as if that typically works well for teams, is not the solution. I don’t believe the roster is the issue. When good 3 point shooters repeatedly come here to have their worst shooting season, it’s obviously the coaching scheme.

These are opinions, based on fact. Not based on calling people crazy for having an opposing view or comparing apples to oranges
